Have done my best to make it up the same as my usual bat. Turns out the rxton 9 I was keeping “in stock” is 39d and the one on the pro-01 is 40.5d according to the packaging.
I will give it a try on Wednesday evening, first impression just bouncing a ball on it, is that the lp outer side feels similar, and the inner side (with the r9) has a bit more/different vibration, which might be due to brand new sheet freshly glued vs 6 month old one, rather than blade I suppose .
I practiced with it a little yesterday.
I have to say up front, I had almost no movement at all, my back and hips were really stiff and painful.
Outer bh with LP was fine, very similar to how pro01 plays, twiddling was fine too, handle is basically same size and shape as I’m used to, bh drives and pushes of the inner side seemed ok, quite manageable. Forehand…when ball happened to come in the right place felt good (maybe just effect of super sticky new rubber), satisfying popping noise on harder hits.

I certainly don’t hate it, I think the inner side does feel a little different to the pro01 (outer), whether it’s better is probably impossible to say.
I think I’ll have another hit with it tonight and hopefully be a bit more mobile.

Two of the highest quality one ply kiso-hinoki money can buy:
Top: Ariex 10.5mm thick A+ grade one-ply kiso hinoki.
Bottom: The iconic Darker Speed 90 ( 9mm thick ) which I was put under waiting list for nine months.

Undressing them because changing covering.

Wow! Gozo, beautiful bats! Nothing feels like one-ply hinoki for hitting. Which butterfly rubbers you will apply to these lovely blades?

My EJ has come to the point where I just don't know what blade could actually interest me anymore. I've come to the conclusion that almost a year after I started playing again, I still don't know what I want to play with most. Even bouncy rubbers are making a comeback.

There's just two things I can write off: I don't like very stiff blades, and when they are medium stiff they need to have a softer surface.

Also, I learned my FH is too flimsy to make use of a 39d orange sponge on the H3 Neo. 37d on the same blade was significantly easier to access sponge power.
I've had a great session this season, once, where I did manage to get that cracking sound out of the rubber after maybe 45 minutes of preparation in FH drills. And even then, only a handful of balls.
So what I don't know, what will I do with that information? Will I try to learn a more powerful FH, or do I just move to more accessible rubber?
I feel like I'm on the same crossroads, but now with too much info and too many choices 😅
Perhaps you can next journey into blade shapes and rubber combinations for Fh/Bh. For blades, there's the Stiga Cybershape, Nittaku Tenaly, Sanwei Pistol, Wingspan. For rubbers, experiment with different combinations of sponge hardness/thickness/density and topheet thickness and pimple density and arrangment. Maybe even pips. There is certain to be equipment out there meant for you just waiting to be found.

Hello @Brs ,

I am glad you asked. FYI, I sold all my other blade and will only retain these two beauties henceforth. No more EJ. Here is a detailed breakdown of what I intend to do:

1. 10.5mm monster blade being super-duper powerful like a 911, I'll pair it on the FH with a tamer Xiom Vega Europe ( 42.5 degree hardness on ESN scale ), BH is BTY Flextra ( ol'skool classic non-tensor grippy rubber ) for control and support.

2. Darker Speed 90. I intend to put, IMO the ultimate FH rubber, that is, Tenergy 05 Hard and loop like crazy. BH another ol'skool non-tensor grippy rubber ( Donic Liga ), also for control and support.

The monster blade being a tad slower, I plan to play with those Asian Obasan and Ojisan while the Darker with the monster FH rubber will play with the regular dudes. NB: I can't one shot one kill those regular dudes with the Vega Europe. Sob story: My T05H is still on transit from Japan and is expected to arrive end of this month... very sad!

  1. Today I spent four hours session in the TT room playing with my T05H on Darker Speed 90.
  2. Also brought along another setup with Rozena as FH as a baseline control rubber.
  3. Over all I like the T05H set up more and the reasons are as follows:
  4. Overall I like it, but it took me a set or two to get use to the harder sponge of T05H.
  5. Spin is more pronounce.
  6. Trajectory of the ball is low and just clear the net which is awesome.
  7. Powerful trampoline effect. Infact the word explosive is the right adjective to describe it.
  8. Counter-drive is amazing. I manage to hit some beautiful winning shots countering my opponent's drives / loops.
  9. Very confident if played from mid distance.
  10. Not so bouncy compared with Rozena, hence easier to play near net short return.
  11. You really need to work the sponge to get the spin activated while lazy half arse brush will cause the ball to go straight into the net.
  12. Will I use T05H going forward? You bet... I'm not done with him yet.
  13. Point Nos. 8 was the deal breaker.

@Choosikick - I gotta say, I'm a bit "perplexed" now, you know, the blade is really kind of unique, it's basic speed is not very high, and also it doesn't feel hard (e.g. mine SDC's W997 feels signif. harder), and yet the throw is very low, esp. if you put more power... I only played with it for a while - yesterday was his 1st training with it (I finished glueing on Sunday)... And so my limited impression is that I would have hard time getting accustomed to the blade... You know I don't want to sound negative, and I know 2 players what have this blade (one is very high level guy whom I respect so much)... and we had so big expectation... We will see...

The T05H - I like, because I'm used to harder rubbers. My friend is more used to T05, so he doesn't "get through" as of now... Will also take time...

EDIT: I needed to ventilate ;-)
