I dont think the reason is the zodiac signs.

Being born early in the year (especially January and February) gives an advantage competing as a kid.

There can be huge difference in development when comparing a 7 year old born in January and December (almost one year difference). Because of that the kids born early is often chosen for the talent/elite teams and get better trainers/training and will have a higher chance of becoming very good.

In Danmark it is a well known secret that kids born early in the year have an advantage in “making it” to pro sports.
