Hello everyone!

Currently using a FL commercial HL5 and been really enjoying it. I have also been trying to fix a very tight hand grip and have seen some really good results by (a) adjusting the grip (b) taking racket off between points. It's a slow process but it seems to be working.

One issue I have is that I have a higher grip on the racket; it gives me control but I feel like the HL5 wings dig into my webbing uncomfortably even when I have a fairly relaxed grip. So the webbing kind of hurts after.

Anyone gone through the same thing? Would love some suggestions on how to fix this?

Wrap some sandpaper/glasspaper around a piece of dowel or plastic pipe that's about 20mm diameter and carefully sand the sharp edges off until it they no longer annoy you. I do it to all my blades, just take your time and I generally wrap the rubbers so that you avoid getting sawdust on them.

Thanks! I figured sanding might be an option.

Have you heard of any non-sanding options?

Stick a band-aid on it, to cushion your grip.

But really, it's best to try and use a lower and/or looser grip.
Currently working on a looser grip, hopefully that either leads to a natural lowering or at least stops the pressure.

Otherwise, might have to put a lower grip on the already long list of fundamentals to practice lol.

Well try with the band-aid first, thanks

Had the same problem, had to sand the wings for hours haha. But it didnt really solve the problem, the handle became thinner which sucked (unless you like that).

Yeah I just sanded it a little bit; feels more comfortable now but next training will tell me more.

Have to still keep practicing to have a more relaxed grip
if you can get your hands on some epoxy, even the tubes version will do, mix up a batch and thicken it up with micro- baloons or microfiber till you get a very thick paste. this paste can now be applied onto the wing-edges and formed into a """little long hill""", (like half a sausage.)
When dry, your sharp-edged wings will be smooth hard and round

You could even make a Dotec kind of slope like that 👀
