Just a little clarification from my side as an umpire on temporary pause.
In table tennis, referees are not the same as in other sports. At the table you have the umpires, while the referee(s) run the tournament.
Checking if the light would bother you should be done before the match, like Jha did in his match against Lind. Later in the game, if it were called a fault, it would be according to the rules, especially if the opponent was already ready to receive the service, in reality umpires usually tolerate this.

Hi, dear
You're right, indeed. The ball is deemed in play as soon as it leaves the palm of your hand. You have to start playing then. Yes, there is a specific Rule regarding the opening action. Look it through carefully.

Be happy.
1) you need to charge you phone....
2) why are you using 2023? 2024 and 2025 are newer versions

2.6.2 The server shall then project the ball near vertically upwards, without imparting spin, so that it rises at least 16cm after leaving the palm of the free hand and then falls without touching anything before being struck.

"without touching anything"
if it touch your hand, its bye bye point to you and hello point to your opponent
but also, if I just let it drop, it bye bye point to me and hello point to my opponent? I sweat a lot and especially during backhand serves (don't know why only backhand serves) ball sticks to my palm often ... and I usually miss or have a bad serve ... so I would be glad to see if there is a way out of this ... :p

wipe your hand on the table and get it dry before the serve
