I can watch it by opening it in youtube and not TTD.

I don't support or encourage sport betting. But sport betting is a thing in all sports.

This documentary seems way 1 sided and those "amateur" tournaments are not amateur at all.
there is a 70 year old guy at TT cup? i'm not too sure.

but the German - Challenger series, I have had over half a dozen players taking part, with TTR of 2300~2400 and the opponents are between 2nd bundesliga to 4th division, which is pro/semi pro.
Those are not amateur players.

Some Challenger players also play regularly in TT Cup and some of them make they income playing these tournaments by earning 500+ Euros over 2 days, and do it 5 to 8 times a month from what I see with one strong player that always makes the finals in Challenger.
That same strong player have beaten many of my 2350~2430 TTR players.

So the competition in these events are indeed serious, and I encourage my players to take part for the match experience (while they waiting for the next league match), and in the same time, they can earn extra income.

While, match fixing will always exist, there are mechanisms in place and if you are loosing to lower level players, they might not want you back. So, if you are injured and not doing well, for the sake of still having more events, you should withdraw and not just try and complete and cause doubt in performances and risk of being banned.

So, this documentary is extremely one sided. I am not sure if that is just they style (didn't watch any other) but match fixing will always exist, because betting will always exist, including ITTF/WTT matches.

If caught, you will be banned and I don't think the match fixing income in table tennis is as much as some of the biggest sports where you can earn huge amounts by throwing the match.

Match fixing is a big issue in cricket. That’s where the dollars are made. Seems every year theres always a cricket player caught in match fixing in cricket. Whether thats actually trying to change the outcome of the game/doing certain things in the game e.g get out for a low score batting/bowl a certain amount of wides etc or these players being approached by the bookmakers and not reporting it to the ICC (International Cricket Council)

These match fixers and bookmakers are usually all located in India and they target vulnerable players who do not make a lot of money particularly players in the leagues such as India Premier League, Abu Dhabi T10 Leagues etc. These bookmakers would never target those rich cricket players such as Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma. Very rare these players would fix these matches in international matches. Almost most happen in the T20/T10 leagues where the dollars are at.

When it comes to Table Tennis I highly doubt there is anyone that is currently match fixing in WTT/ITTF games. Leagues on the other hand there a higher chance that there may be players who are match fixing but the money is not there to be made so not worth. The payment would have to be in the range of 5000-10,000 USD per bet which with table tennis your not getting near this amount.

I am not sure if people gamble on ITTF/WTT games. However, on lower level games, I would highly recommend not gambling on them. That is all I will say on the matter.

FWIW, Ukraine, Russia and Germany were most reported between 2020 and 2021 (double-digit), Poland and Germany in 2022, Czechia in 2023 and 2024.

Table tennis has been the 3rd most reported sport for 5 consecutive years since 2020.

IBIA reports 63 suspicious betting alerts in Q1 2025
https://sigma.world/news/insights-from-ibias-q1-2025-report/

Highlights from the Q1 2025 report

Football and tennis continue to dominate the alert charts. These two sports were responsible for 40 of the 63 alerts, an increase of 14 percent from the previous quarter. On the flip side, table tennis saw a dramatic drop, from 21 alerts in Q4 2024 to just 9 in Q1 2025, a whopping 53 percent decrease.

Regional distribution of alerts

...
Europe registered 15 alerts, with nine related to table tennis—seven in the Czech Republic and two in Germany. Other alerts in Europe were spread across basketball, football, and horse racing.
...

CEO Khalid Ali’s welcomes reduction

...
Ali said, “The quarter-on-quarter reduction was primarily due to a fall in tennis alerts, which have shown a welcome reduction in recent years. The Q4 2024 increase in table tennis alerts has not continued into Q1 2025 and has fallen back to previous levels. IBIA has taken increased precautions regarding this sport. We have agreed on several new integrity partnerships and protocols in Q1 with the aim of detecting and sanctioning corrupt betting activity.”

* This figure may be revised in future depending on the outcome of any

that was reported was an not an event organised by the International Table
