I played with a Darker speed 90 and owned a spare as well. Used them without breaking for a good while and sold them on eventually.
RSM and KTS both played with 10mm k-pen blades and I can tell you, that though the speed 90 are beautiful blades blades and a joy to own, they are nothing compared to the 10mm k-pen or j-pen. (top quality 10mm are much less likely to break) I bought a KTS 10mm and found it to be harder wood, heavier and much faster. I wanted to convert it to shake hand but unfortunately the long ph blade didn't balance right for shakehand BH. I used to love to practice FHs with it. I considered writing to butterfly for a custom 10 mm shake hand but concluded it would be too expensive, and then came across my YINHE 10mm ayous wood which was very much cheaper, has typical 1-ply feel and speed (faster than speed 90 and a bit slower than KTS, but lighter than what 10mm hinoki would be) If any of you are thinking of trying custom TOP QUALITY Hinoki 1-check out what the weight will be after you attach 2 rubbers and a shakehands handle. You will find a significant difference. A war club is the term that best applies.
If you go for these more powerful weapons you might like to consider whether your fitness justifies the investment as enthusiastic development of your drive may impact your shoulder a bit
