It appears the competition is here again with even better prizes than last year.

Are you guys going to participate in the competition?

I think it's a great way to promote the sport (at least if it's as popular as last year). Let's just hope the views amount on Youtube will be "real", I'm not sure if they all were last year (what do you think?).

You just spend some money and can get bots to like and view your facebook and youtube.
I personally saw some fishy things going on.

So, its a popularity contest with tons of rooms for cheating.

If it is a panel of expert judgets only - then fair, but its just a money making thing - not sure how much ITTF got paid from youtube from last years trickshot....

To whom ever is going to enter, be preapred to spend hundred of hours trying to promote the link, and also some money to purchase services of bots.
And then you may have some chance.

Couldn't agree more than you Tony on this. I found it really hard to believe that all of those views and likes in the vids last year were "real".

And yeah, the promoting takes sooo much time if you really want to have some chances in the competition.. The fact that it's mainly just based on the views is the problem (for the submitters) with the competition. It's though a great deal for the organizers..

I don't yet know whether to participate or not.. Used quite much time trying to promote it last year and the result was quite poor. Will have to see if we come up something funny just to participate and send something in but won't for sure spend that same time as last year trying to promote it. It makes you go crazy lol

IMO, its not worth it.

Who said doing this is "promoting" table tennis :)

IMO, there are other more worth while things to do to promote TT

You can make a trick shot video and submit - since you guys are good at it.
But don't waste your time promoting it. It should be ITTF's job to promote the video, not you.
Unless they want you to promote they youtube channel

I think it can be good promotion for the sport in the way that Josep, the last year's winner, showed us. He was featured on several news sites' videos which is great promotion IMO. But that's really it..

Yeah, if we participate I'm sure that I won't try to promote it even nearly the amount as last time. But ye.. We'll see how the competition turns out to be this year

What to do:
1. Everyone submits to YouTube with some sort of tag.
2. Ittf and STIGA eliminate all the stupid videos
3. The videos are divided up and 100 are picked
4. The 100 are divided up among the top 50 men and women. Each looks at 5-10
5. They are rated from 1 to ten.
6. The final 10 will be decided by STIGA and ITTF

That's how it should work.

Seriously, people got more important things in life to worry about than this....
- just try and live a life of 100% TT and trying to squeeze in family and friends for 1 month and you will know what I'm talking about

haha, Tony is one sour and cynical S.O.G. lately haha.

What torqued U off man?

I actually think a little different disagree on a couple of points.

Obviously, making a trick vid is something done out of pride, just look at editing sports! They aren't rich from it, yet they are having a blast doing it.

There are all kind of hidden mental value positives from making a vid.

Still yet, I gotta agree with Tony on many of his points.

All kind of underhanded ways to get around the grading system that take away from the achievements of the vid creators.

Even if we limit the voting to forum members with 100 posts established or at least an account established by a certain date, there are still ways to get around everything, I see some reason for how you feel dude.
