Struggling with feel & control after switching rubbers on Butterfly Gergely Tamca 5000

Hi everyone,

I played table tennis in my early days with the following setup.

• Blade: Butterfly Gergely Tamca 5000
• Forehand: Tibhar Nimbus Soft
• Backhand: Nittaku Hammond FA (Short Pimples)

After a long break, I came back to the game and decided to modernize my setup with newer rubbers, switching to:

• Forehand: Tibhar Evolution FX-P
• Backhand: Yasaka Rakza PO (Short Pimples)

Since the switch, the racket just doesn't feel right:

1. Forehand Topspin: I feel like I am not generating enough spin on my loops/topspins compared to before.
2. Backhand Counters: I lose control during short-pimple counters/blocks; the ball feels unpredictable.

My questions for the community:

1. Why do these modern pimple rubbers feel so uncontrolled or lacking in spin on a classic stiff carbon blade like the Gergely?
2. What rubber combinations (or blade + rubber setups) would you recommend for a returning player who wants to restore spin on the forehand and control on short-pimple backhand counters?

How long ago are we talking about? If we're talking 10+ years, some of your issues could be caused by the balls being changed in material.

Generating a good quality, spinny FH loop is also one of the things that really takes time and practice to get back. Give it a month or two if you haven't already.

Get a all wood or a blade with softer feel (FZD alc? Harimoto alc?) for more spin. Most T5000 blades are good for flat hit, only good for spin if you can snap really fast.
