If we're talking about production volume (number of blades and rubber sheets manufactured), rather than brand prestige, sales revenue or professional-player popularity, I'd distinguish between the two product categories.
### 1. Likely volume leaders
| Brand | Blades | Rubbers | My assessment |
| -------------- | --------- | --------- | ---------------------------------- |
| DHS | Very high | Very high | Probably among the biggest overall |
| Yinhe / Galaxy | Very high | Very high | Major mass-market manufacturer |
| 729 Friendship | High | Very high | Particularly strong in rubbers |
| Double Fish | High | Medium | Large Chinese manufacturer |
| Sanwei | High | High | Major Chinese producer |
| Butterfly | High | High | Major international premium brand |
| Stiga | High | Medium | Significant blade manufacturer |
### 2. Other important manufacturers
- Palio
- Sword
- Nittaku
- Xiom
- Yasaka
- Tibhar
- Donic
### 3. An interesting comparison
There is at least one useful hard-number reference: in an interview, a Stiga representative reported annual production of approximately:
- 150,000–200,000 blades.
- 150,000–200,000 rubber sheets.
Butterfly, meanwhile, confirmed that its main blade production and rubber manufacturing take place in Japan, but did not disclose comparable production quantities.
My conclusion: If I had to bet on the biggest manufacturers by sheer unit volume, I'd put DHS, Yinhe and 729 among the strongest candidates, with Sanwei also worth considering.
One important caveat: there is no reliable publicly available global production-volume ranking. Also, brand ownership and actual manufacturing are not necessarily the same thing: OEM production makes comparisons particularly difficult.
