I played with this category of blades a lot, including 2 xioms: Strato and Ignito, that I am selling because I stopped playing with this kind of blades.

They are very fast, low throw, bouncy (meaning short pushes are difficult as the ball jumps with the slightest touch). More suitable for playing near the table.

They have very soft feeling that I like so much but it doesn't compensate for the playing characteristics, particularly the bounciness.

I played with primorac carbon some time ago. It was very fast without any interesting feeling. In my opinion if you want hinoki, get a full hinoki construction, either 1ply, 5ply, whatever. My favourite was the butterfly hs cryzer, what a blade...

I feel that 3+2 blades in general is a structure that has been surpassed in every aspect by 5+2.
Because you sacrifice the medial, cross-grained layer, the lateral stability is mediocre and any means of counteracting that result in a thick, stiff, fast blade.
Like Primorac Carbon, I have a Waldner Legend Carbon and compared to Korbel it's a brick. No feeling. Yes, the hinoki top means you can still put spin on the ball, but it shoots out so hot dang fast.
My advice, stay away from this. Even for a seasoned, fast, highly offensive player, this type of blade is an acquired taste and doesn't necessarily add anything compared to a Viscaria or HL5.

Why not, looks like good control and fast maximum spin.

I see, I mustve guessed wrong then haha. I thought since hinoki is very soft, it would have better control (as well as the 3+2 composition yk?)

I'm not looking for Hinoki specifically, I'm looking for control and fast max speed. Like innerforce, yk? Looking for alternatives before finally choosing.

Then what can you recommend for a blade with many gears? Carbon can work, as well as ALC. ZLC, not so much.
Victas Hino-Carbon is fast but very controllable, and IMHO doesn't have the negative characteristics mentioned above. also it looks and feels nice, i don't know the penhold version though.
Oooo whats the composition and other stuff abt it?

Thanks for your responses, I now know to look somewhere else 😭. Speaking of which, what do you guys recommend for me to try (from Petr Korbel, moving to Carbon/ALC)

I'll get this upgrade blade somewhere in 2026, so I can focus on my skill first. But better start looking early!

Flexy innercarbon blade with limba topply. Not too fast on low gear, but very fast if you generate power.

Composition wise its basically a korbel with carbon. If you really want upgrade on the korbel, innerforce-style blades are the logical step up I think. There are many on the market, so buy according to your budget or grip preferences.

oh, I get it. thx for the comment :)

What do you think is the next blade I should get after Korbel? Carbon
Innerforce alc. I have viscaria, went to Korbel, I've ordered harimoto alc, should be a good middle ground. Innerforce alc is considered to be one of these blades that both a beginner can pick up with no problems, but a pro can also use it.

Indeed. And they can be bought anywhere from about 10 to 400 dollars. What a great invention. (y)
There's clones and copies as well as general inner alc blades from china from companies like yinhe, palio and 729 for great prices, but I mentioned innerforce alc because that's the standard.

First carbon and for many players their last carbon. Innerforce ALC, great blade, lots of pros play with this and moving from a Korbel should be no trouble at at all. If you want something like a Primorac carbon. That's fine, but I highly recommend hitting with one first. If you've been playing a while you most likely can make any of these work, but for first carbon, maybe inner with limba outer is best, esp if you can't sample other people's blades to feel all the different constructions.

I'm gonna edit this and add that if you like the slightly larger 158x152 head size then take a look at the Harimoto ALC, it's essentially the Inner Force with increased head size. This blade will feel like your Korbel with a power boost on big hits and a bigger sweet spot, it will still feel woody and nice for pushes and stuff. Should be good and spinny. Def. one to consider.

This is probably quality based, I wouldn't want a bad carbon blade.

Primorac carbon makes the viscaria feel slow like a snail. It's a rocketship. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone but Primorac himself. Personally I wouldn't touch it, but it does sound a lot of fun!
