Even though he is retired now, it’s interesting to note since he is playing Bundesliga still, why did he switch away from the rubber that he developed with Butterfly? Butterfly lists him using D05 both sides now. I wonder why he switched.

There's a few chances:
- D09c might be physically or mentally too demanding without training like a pro
- he might simply like D05 more, and no longer need to go for the edge D09c brought to the table
- after playing with bouncy rubber for ages, and D09c for a much shorter time, it makes sense to go back to bouncy for the muscle memory

Not only that, but he also uses a blade with a special material handle. Also in Flared handle.

Doesn´t look like his anniversary blade, as this has a lighter and shorter end. The anniversary is dark grey.

I've heard good reviews on the handle. I hope Butterfly would make it more widely available

His D05 is almost certainly harder, with a different sponge definitely and perhaps even topsheet but with the same 05 pips arrangement compared to commercial version.

No clue why he dropped the 09c but 09c, like most harder and tacky rubbers, is certainly less forgiving with less perfect contact which is more common when training less.

he will likely play one more Bundesliga season and not retiring completely as per earlier reports, at least at this stage.

The current one will be his last Bundesliga season.

18 of 22 playing weeks are already done so if you want to see him one more time you have to go to one of the final 4 days one of 2 playoff weeks or champions league, in a couple weeks he will be retired completely.

Interesting find! I spotted Adriana Diaz with a different racket as well during the Waldner Cup. Looks to be the same blade!

What makes you say that?

I think he would look pretty silly if he went back on his pledge now after accepting all the extra applause and hampers from various venues throughout the season, making a short documentary called 'The Last Serve' as well as repeatedly saying in interviews that this was his last season.

Maharu Yoshimura is also using a blade with a handle similar to what Boll and Diaz is using.
You can see in some of the recent matches he played.

The picture below is from the China Smash 2024 tournament.

Nice. It seems like Butterfly is adding an option for their players to have a G-Fless on their blade. I guess Butterfly only has this pattern available widely for them. It also looks like it covers a bigger part than on the Anniversary blade.
