No excuse for a full time tt professional to lose to a 2300+ chopper. She played and beat pro player Yumeno Soma of Japan at the 2019 Croatia Open so no excuse here. She's 29 years old originally from China so is an experienced player. Congrats to Rachel Yang for a great upset.

Yue Wu's experience includes not being good against choppers. She lost in 2018 Nationals to a 2400 chopper, Angela Guan.

Her losses might be attributed to the altitude in Las Vegas, which will cause her loops to go a little bit longer than normal.

No it can't. Yue Wu has played plenty of times in Vegas. She's just plays poorly against choppers. She can't loop 2 FHs in a row against a chopper. Rachel Sung beat R Yang (the same chopper) pretty comfortably and Sung is rated 100 points lower than Wu. Go back and watch how Sung played against Yang and how Wu played against Yang and then decide who is the better player against the same chopper.

I'm not saying Wu is a bad player. She is fantastic against a double inverted player with quick rallying skills. She just can't play against choppers thats all. She doesn't have a consistent enough attack from either wing and if she can't win a point on her first FH or BH loop she loses a lot of confidence in her attacking abilities. She knows this, tries to get into long pushing points, hoping for expedite.

That pretty much sums it up. She was not confident attacking the chops... tried to play pushing rallies against a chopper and paid the price!

Also, Rachel seemed to sense that wu didnt want to attack so even her chops were not varied much. They were just consistent and low, but with good spin each time.

Looking back at their records, yue wu beat Rachel on 3/1/19 or roughly 4 months ago. But you know how those juniors are... you kick their butt once and a few mo ths later they come back 1000 points higher! Haha

You can bet Rachel Yang worked on the stuff that caused her to lose then. It is also a slight help to a chopper to play at the Las Vegas altitude while a slight hindrance for Yue Wu vs a chopper.
