Episode 10 of the TTDCast is brought to you from the China Smash!! We are joined by the ITTF Group CEO Steve Dainton who answers all your burning questions!

We kick off the episode with Steve taking Dan on a tour of the unbelievable Infinity and Smash arena’s that have played host to all the matches here at the China Smash. And they take a sneak peak at the Training hall where the players prepare.

It’s then back to the studio where Steve walks us through how WTT are committed to building a visual product that is on par with the biggest sports around the world.

We then put to Steve your questions that were collected on Instagram:

* What the appearance requirements are for players of the WTT events
* And how WTT are fully committed to working with Players and national governing bodies to ensure as Table Tennis continues to grow, they have a voice at the table.

making something good in a new and bad way just for the sake of making it different is super stupid.
They should just ask the crowd and they will find out that it is not 50/50 but 80/20 pro old camera angle!

Split screen side angle and 80/20. Side angle shows the speed and both players...footwork all that. The 80/20 shows the spin and insane quality of some of these shots but you miss out on parts of the player from the opposite table.

As of right now, the side angle with the different angle replays seems like a good compromise.

LOL have a look at the youtube comments, 99% of comments are roasting the side angle and Steve. It is objectively the worst angle to watch TT in. Even Jun Mizutani is complaining about it lol.

Yes I hated it too. It seemed dumb down the game making the ralleys and distance these athletes cover seem much shorter.

The key is that the view from behind the table gives the players perspective so that you can get involved in the rally properly. Anybody who is actually a player will prefer this. Side view takes this away. I was disappointed that the TTD guys didn't challenge Dainton in any way. Yes men we don't need.

IMHO the match comes across so much better, when you can see the ball coming toward you and there is the opportunity to try and read the serve and also appreciate the changes in power and direction from the perspective of a player in the rally. Moreover it not as good to see it in replay or slo-mo after the fact. Of course slo-mo and other effects are useful, but for big matches you want to enjoy them live if possible to enjoy the tension to the max.

Imo the angle they have on Contenders and Feeders is the best. With the side angle matches just become a blur to me.

That's a feature of every CEO (part of the job description and measured in words spoken divided by questions answered - if question answered is 0, we have an invite result -> Best score possible)

i also like behind the table angle much more and most of my clubmates. only one coach i know likes the sideangle because we can see the back and forth footwork better, but thats it

its good for tutorial, and that is it
i guess they took that idea from football matches and not tennis or badminton

Just imagine tennis with the side angle. That's stupid. You can't see any lateral effect of the ball or moves of the players. The only thing you see better is the height of the ball, which is way less important. You already can see the back and forth footwork of players with the behind-angle, like in tennis or badminton or squash.
Like someone said, side-angle is only here to copy football, football that loses more and more viewers in Europe, where it's supposed to be the most popular sport.
