Mostly for flat hitters, what Damien Eloi is. The goal of this blade was to help him play his well known terrific FH flicks, Waldner himself said he had the best FH flick ever at that era. Despite being only 165 cm tall, he literally jumps over the table to hit those FH flicks.
Fact is the speed glue was so much stretching the rubbers (way more than the boosters nowadays) that you didn't require a so much large sweet spot to impart heavy spins to a celluloid ball that was way more easy to spin.
Even after the speed glue ban, the celluloid ball helped him keeping this blade, then when the plastic ball replaced the cell one (and specially when he became Andro's equipment chief of staff), he switched to more traditional blades.
Still fit at 56, playing tier 3 league in France, at 50 he was still playing at a pro level in the 2. Bundesliga.
He's been a top 20 ITTF ranked player and at 44 was still in the top 100, very long and consistent pro career.
