Which blade, other than the Stiga OC goes well with the Mark V?

Hi, I'm probably going to upgrade from my current equipment in 2 months or so.

I've started to play more seriously for the last 6 months (at least 3 hours a week) and since January I've been using [**Palio Amigo**] on my FH and [**Joola Upp**] on my BH and the [**Galaxy N10**] as my blade. It's beginner level stuff and I picked it as it was available as a complete package and I wanted to try out something slightly below my level so that I could see what I wanted to upgrade to later. However, it's still a good racket and my FH, which used to be a major weakness is catching up with my BH. My game has improved quite a lot in these last few months I can play so many strokes with this rubber that I couldn't early on.

I think that Mark V (2.0mm) is a good rubber for me as I love playing a a varied game (not good enough to specialize yet and I mostly play for fun). I think that it will help me become a better player as it's not too fast and I've heard that it's good on both the FH and BH. It's also not too expensive

Before I ask you for blade recommendations, I should tell you about my playing style.

**Strengths**: BH chop, push, smash and serve receives. I also have developed a lot of serves and variations. Returning smashes

**Weaknesses**: FH push and FH loop (though it's getting better quickly). Returning very heavy topspin or heavy backspin to my forehand.

I've heard that the **Stiga Offensive Classic** is a good blade for the Mark V for an allround setup but I've also heard that it vibrates a lot and you don't get a lot of "ball-feeling" but I haven't rejected it yet. I'm unsure about what to get as there are so many options (Donic Senso blades also sound good). The websites that I'm looking to order from are contra(dot).de and spinfactory(dot).de from (I live in Germany) as they can assemble the racket for me and the prices look good. I would like the blade to be less than around 40 euros.

I'm sorry about the wall of text but I felt that you would be able to give me better info if I share more about my style of play.

Hi, I'm probably going to upgrade from my current equipment in 2 months or so. I've played for fun for 2 years using a Donic 700 racket (which feels dead now).

Before I ask you for blade recommendations, I should tell you about my playing style.

**Strengths**: BH flick, loop, chop, push, smash and serve receives. I also have developed a lot of serves and variations. Returning smashes

**Weaknesses**: FH push and FH loop (though it's getting better quickly). Returning very heavy topspin or heavy backspin to my forehand.

I try to adjust to my opponent and play the way that I think will help me win the game. I play an allround game in which I try to set up a third ball attack with my serves. I can win points aggressively using my backhand loop and flick and I can loop quickly using my Forehand down the line. Otherwise, I also like to play a spin based game in which I try to vary the sidespin and backspin in order to force a false stroke or a weak return from my opponent that I can attack.

I've heard that the **Stiga Offensive Classic** is a good blade for the Mark V for an allround setup but I've also heard that it vibrates a lot and you don't get a lot of "ball-feeling" but I haven't rejected it yet. Stiga Allround classic is one of the best for the Mark V rubbers.I tried it,and its my personal honest opinion.

If you get a new blade you should get and allround blade first, Now jump straight into OFF+ blades just bacause you want to attack with high speed. You should first get better before you get better equipment. So I wouldnt reccomend the offensive classic or infinity vps v.

I recommend you to start with Mark V with medium sponge thinkness on an Stiga Allround Classic and then after a year you can Get Mark V maximum sponge thickness still on the allround classic and after another year upgrade to the Stiga Offensive Classic.

Just be patient with the equipment, its not al about the equipment. when I started I got my first custom bat after 1 year I got some cheap 10 dollar blade with Mark V on both sides and after a year my coach upgraded my rubbers to Andro Impuls Speed still on the same blade. After another year I changed to the Impuls Powersponge on a Stiga Allround NCT. And then after 1 and a half year I changed my rubbers to Andro Hexer and I used that for around 2 and a half year I believe and I just changed to the Clipper Wood with Rakza 7 on the Forehand and the soft version on the backhand. But even after around 7 years of table tennis I find it hard to adapt to this new setup. Its great for my hard hitting attacking style but since the combination is harder I have less dwell and sometimes the bal flies with unpredicted trajectories into the net or off the table...

Now I'm confused whether to get the offensive classic or the allround classic.

I suggest you stick with the allround classic. But if you want the bat premade and under 40Euros,then the Yasaka Mark V premade racket is the best option. It is cheap, very good for playing, and is definitely not a beginners bat.It is for a more advanced player

Here the link for the Mark V carbon Premade bat- http://www.yasaka.se/products/bat-mark-v-carbon/
Or the Mark V premade without carbon- http://www.yasaka.se/products/batmark-v/

Get a good blade depends if you want to go defensive or offensive its up to you.. the way i understand your post is that you know moreorless some basics of the game, now stick with your markV as your rubber and train yourself close door for a year with a trainer. Your blade is the soul. It will save you a lot of money changing replacing jumping from one to the other.. having the most expensive blade doesnt mean better than the cheaper ones, it depends on what suits you.

Thats why i recommend the mark v carbon premade.Excellent rubbers, and the total cost is around $100 - $120(This includes a carbon blade)

Thank you so much for the replies :) To clarify, my 40 euros budget is just for the blade and not for the rubbers.

I've read through all of your posts. I have a few further questions:

1. What's the difference between my current blade( Galaxy/Yinhe N10) (rated as an All+) and the Stiga Allround Classic? Are there other things that define a blade other than the speed and weight? I'm wondering if I should upgrade the blade at all.
2. Should I get the NCT version of the Allround Classic? (Both of them are in my budget).

I think the nct version is is a little bit faster but has also more dwell and the nc technology allows you to hit the ball harder without losing controll. I think the nct version would be better becausr the classic is more an old blade (made in the 80s). so the nct version is a bit more modern.

Awesome, I think I've made a decision to go with the Allround NCT as it seems like a step up from my current blade, without sacrificing control. I think it won't hinder my development as a player as it's not too fast. I like playing with lots of spin so the extra dwell factor seems perfect. Paired with Mark V rubbers this seems like the perfect training blade.

Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I've placed an order for the following set-up

1. Mark V 2.0 on both sides.
2. Donic Persson Senso Allround V2

I was initially going to order the Stiga Allround NCT like the others said but I had the opportunity to try this blade yesterday. It felt a lot better than my current blade. It was lighter and much more comfortable. My shots were quite accurate and in my current set up (though this could be related to the rubber), it feels like it's impossible for me to lift backspin and the throw angle is much lower. I could perform every stroke without too much effort (even against backspin chops). With my current set up, I have to launch myself into my forehand stroke to just clear the net :) Te Donic blade was easy to control while being quite a bit faster than my current blade.

I was still not sure as I had read many good things about the Stiga Allround NCT online but I felt that it would be much safer to order something that I've tried already. What are your thoughts?
