I have been playing with Hurricane Long 5 for the last 6 months or so with boosted H3N OS 39 on FH and Telson 100 on BH. As a solid intermediate, I am fairly satisfied with my progress with the blade, I enjoy it and I do feel in control most of the time. My plan has been to grow with the blade.

The few times when I overhit the ball or find myself hesitating on shots during matches, I wonder if I am truly in control. I would like to test a wood blade with H3N on the FH and potentially downgrade in order to finetune my fundamentals.

What wood blades would pair well with FH H3N specifically? Based on my browsing of the forum, Korbel seems to be a good option but would love to hear any strong recommendations based on experience?

Why not try playing h3 without boosting? It'll deter the bounciness you experience and instead allow you to rely more on your own strength. This'll help you to not spend extra money on buying a new blade, and with the 6 months of experience you have playing the long 5 I feel it's something you should stick with considering you're a solid intermediate player and feel in control most of the time.

I haven't tried it myself but the DHs Wang Hao 5ply all wood blade could be a consideration. Korbel also isn't bad but if you want something like the korbel but a bit faster, you could consider the korbel sk7 as well.

Heard that playing H3N without boosting is pretty difficult but this is definitely another option. I might try this next before the wood option as I would like to reduce any adjustment period.

If you buy another blade it might well be just the beginning of you becoming an EJ. 😂
Why not try a Loki Rxton 3 PRO on the forehand. For the silly price they ask for these rubbers they are great. You might find your balls are hitting the table and give you a solid feel of control.

Lol, as a recovering EJ, I know that is a slippery slope!

It's actually great on the BH. Very good blocking, good but not catapulty speed, and it forces me to improve my technique. E.g. I thought it was not very spinny but after hearing some contrary comments from some good players on this forum, I tried to improve my contact point and I am seeing dividends!
Highly recommend, trying.

Just for reference - H3N becomes very easy on flexible all wood blade (980XX, 5ply, ALL-). The extra drell time and higher trow makes the opening loops unmistakable.

My advice is to keep room for improvement and try something off- with medium flex. I have limited experience with Acoustic, but I count it as very flexible. Ludeack and Clipper are stiffer options.

I have a very old Donic persson powerplay 7-ply; just stuck a H3N 39 on it.

Do you think it'll work on that?

Played with the new setup (Persson Powerplay FH: H3Neo 39, BH: Vega Europe). BH felt very controlled as expected, especially with the BH serves. FH, on occasions I was overhitting but that was me just muscling the ball/poor technique.

So while the blade will not fix technique magically, I did feel more freedom in going full-stroke as opposed to having to stop myself as with HL5. I'll try this setup for 2-3 months to dial in feeling, control, practice technique and then decide if I want to go back to HL5 or continue with this setup longer.

Should've went for something that plays more similar to the long 5 like xylo 7

Ideally yes, but I am also wary of becoming of an EJ and changing too much. Rather adjust with main focus on training fundamentals. I am attracted to too many blades already lol.
The reason why I suggested the xylo 7 is because it plays more similar to the long 5 being a softer blade with limba ayous veneers, from the description on Donic's site the Persson Powerplay doesn't really sound like it plays similar, so when you move back to the long5 you might feel a bit of discrepancy and may take longer to re-adapt
