Truls has learned his lesson from past encounters and works harder to move Darko around before trying to overpower him. That said Darko's ability to bring back the ball and attack loose returns had kept thr match stable. The best match of the day so far for me.

EDIT: Truls tried to use the chop block for one point. A Darko backhand kill reminded him of why the stroke should be kept far away from this match....

Pretty miserable service point conversion from Darko. Especially considering Truls' FH push receive to Darko's backhand side-topspin serve was... Not very good. A more forehand-oriented attacker would have had a field day with those receives.

*Darko's TO in game six, he tells Mamut he's been serving nothing but BH for five straight games and needed to change it. Bro...

BTW, game six, 5-5, epic rally, commentator starts talking mid-rally. What is it with these people?

I would love to see Szocs play this assertive in the future though. Clearly she still has room to grow into more of an offensive weapon even this late in her career.
I'm also a big pole vault fan but yes. That backhand is really natural. The wrist! Honestly she knows her level and gave her best. Was totally deferential at the end.
This was as should be.

I was right about Hugo backing off but I didnt realize that was a superpower vs Sora lol. Good win. Sora showed some tactical evolution but insufficient stability.

Hatimoto is now the favorite for this. Thr interesting thing is that he si playing against opponents he has good head to heads against but who have all beaten him. Come on Harimoto, show us the evolution!

Hugo and Sora never played each other before? They should be made to play each other every event, lovely stuff. Let's get a rule change in.
I have no clue about the rules but I know sports psych. and Sora lost his ish there. Even beyond that, Hugo was magnificent. My gosh. He's like Pete Samppras of TT. Love it.
Ben Shelton also won in US Open tennis today. Similarly other world athletic skill.

Main thing though is that you were right. Well projected.

With all credit to Hugo, am disappointed with Soras performance. He wants to blast everyone off the table, but it doesn't always work that way in TT. He has to think about strategy for each player. He can learn a thing or two from Harimoto. I love Sora, but getting frustrated with his antics. He is young, am sure he'll learn over time.
