I'm obviously a big fan and of the chop block - especially Adriana's and Truls' - but Darko summarily dispatched one of the Swede's earlier in this tournament, and I'm not sure he hit another after that in their match.
Interesting.
Makes sense.
If you get countered strongly on a right uppercut you might not throw it again despite its devastating potential.

While I'm no big fan of zeio's propaganda, and suspect it might actually be his job - put his name in the search box and the moniker of the person you were replying to with this in the "by member" slot. You'll get an amazing number of results. Said member seemingly looks for any and all opportunities to needle him.
If you can't admit something as basic as that Truls is a good player who has won more world championship singles medals than Harimoto and more Olympic medals than Harimoto and has led Sweden to quite a few titles and you repeatedly try to paint Truls as a special cancer to the Swedish team who has not led the team well or pulled his weight or a player not worth respecting as one of the best and most acocmplished players of modern times basicslly because you claim Harimoto doesnt respect Truls playing standard, I would needle you too.

That said, this is a topic for another place and time. You had a whole thread to lay out your issues and refused to use it. Fully your right, but please do not relitigate such issues here. You know whar you can do if you want to do it.

I think not using the chop block as often against Darko was one of the keys to Truls victory. He usually loat to Darko in the big matches in the European top 16 so i had predicted Darko would win again. But Truls played a very disciplined match, avoiding overwhelming Darko with power and using strategic placements to bother Darko before going for the kill. Playing less to Darko's strengths was definitely one of the keys to victory.

You closed that thread down before I had a chance to return to it.

I'm not re-litgating anything. I simply replied directly to a post in this thread. And the answer is 10 pages of results. Don't try to deflect from your fixation and trolling by changing the topic.

Try the same query with any of the top 10 or 20 posters in the history of this website. Let me know how.many pages of results you get in every instance. When some one is the most prolofic poster on the website and has been posting here for 15 years, it is possible to cherry pick and abuse statistics to suit your agenda. By your standard, I have fixations with members such as @UpSideDownCarl and @pongfugrasshopper. In reality, while I do needle @zeio, it simply has to do with my disagreeing with his positions when he tries to present them as established facts. But your post count argument is precisely the kind of thing I would argue is misleading in what it tries to do. And this is not the thread for it.

Again. I can reopen the thread if you want me to. But this is not the thread for it.

I think very few people can win against Truls using the short game tactics. It might make sense to push long to all corners of the table and make Truls open and get into an open rally. It's disgusting how good his short game is. He is winning matches from the backhand corner often.
I actually disagree, i think Truls has one of the best forehands in the world (easily the best in Europe) and the main thing is to play a bit like him and stop trying to overpower him with the first shot but to to put him out of position with strategic serving. One of the reasons why Hugo struggles so much with Truls is that with all due respect to Hugo, his serve is extremely straightforward and once Truls reads it, he can add juat about any spin he wants. Darko at least can keep Truls off balance with various placements and spin choices out of backhand serve. And then Wang has the ultimate advantage - a lefty serve which does pretty much what Darko's serve does.

Even with that Harimoto has a good enough short game.that he could have won today. A lot of it comrs down having weapons that don't put you on the back foot and refusing to play to your preferences if they feed the opponent's preferences as well. Truls clearly has worked harder on the problem, others need to do the same.

Clutch is being strong when your down, choking is weakness when you're ahead. You can be clutch and a choker I don't think they're the same or mutually exclusive
Clutch means crucial decisive moments. Not limited to being strong when you are down.
Choking is more about the symptoms but yes, usually happens when ahead.

Both Harimoto and Hugo serve very straightforward pendulum serves. I don't know why they do not bother to try at lease one reverse serves (hooked, reverse pendulum). Even the top players have certain serves that they do not return well.

Attacking behikd a serve requires you to learn placemenrs of returns, the spins etc. So it isnt trivial especially for an eatablished player. Both Harimoto and Hugo in different ways just want a ball they can read back from the opponent and it is harder when you add your own sidespin. But for someone like Truls, it does give him little to thinn about when creating his sidespin mischief.

But all the guys who can bother Truls know how to serve into the short forehand and get attacking opportunities. Thats my main point and even Harimoto is reasonable. Hugo just needs to do more and stop being stubborn about it. My opinion of course. Harimoto has all those serves he just reserves them for critical occassions and has become like Hugo. Hugo had never shown alternatives seriously.

Choking is reaching the finish line and not being able to cross it due to a psychological block.

Harimoto came back from 6-10 in game 7, secured a mach point, and instead of capitalizing on the psychological advantage, started making errors.

It's actually a pattern he's been repeating for years, although less often lately.

I think you misread my statement and I should have been clearer. What I meant was, Truls is winning matches from his backhand corner either by attacking from his forehand or thru backhand punches. His forehand is good no doubt, but others have equally good forehand. The difference being Truls constant short service to opponents forehand that is getting him weak returns which he kills by forehand or backhand.

Lot of opponent coaches will now have food for thought and have to deeply study his service to forehand, service receive game. These are the main differentiators for me in his game.

Very few have stroke variation like Truls. The way he combines spinny hooks and soft-touch inside-outs really is nearly unparalleled in Europe.

I would say unparalleled period, it is a full package forehand that no other player can match, can pick up the half long , counter and place the ball like no other, all with extremely high quality. The placement and deception with versatility is what many other forehands don't have.
