Nah. He needs to use same rubber, and stand closer to the center of the table and play closer to his 14 year old style.

I guarantee he is only 22 and he has a lot of time left. Just keep using the same coaches, same style, ignore his teammates beating him as one-offs.
Be nice, he turned 22 today. Wish him Happy Birthday at least before repeating the same old stuff...

Does anyone like An Jaehyun? I just got a feeling (haven't seen much table tennis involving him I must admit) that he might not be the role model of sportmanship. I have seen him do bad stuff against Seyfried and Calderano on video clips.
Didn’t watch the game against Seyfried but the one against Calderano at WTTC I did watch and that was bad sportsmanship from him. Calderano is unable to open his palm fully due to having Dupuytren Contracture where An was complaining about Calderano serves not having palm fully open so he couldn’t see the ball before thrown up.

An didn’t know and now he knows about Calderano condition that it can be considered a one off thing and won’t be repeated again. Im willing to give An the benefit of the doubt but did not see the Seyfried match. What did he do?

I believe that as long as Calderano serves are high and doesn’t cover the ball with his head and body while the ball goes up and down then theres not really much of an advantage to Calderano. I can understand if his serves weren’t that high then it will be too much of an advantage to Calderano and players will be complaining.

Notice how Huang got eliminated from every event in Ljubljana on the first day, to still being in every event in Zagreb. Baby WCQ is still extremely inconsistent ;)
I watched the match highlights and his problem was that Robles plays the exact same style as him lol. Huang likes to overwhelm you with slow spinny attacks with spin drives mixed in and Robles is a specialist with the same style. In the beginning, Huang had the upper hand and a big lead in game 2 and Robles adjusted and won after a long deuce and them just handled the last 2 games better. It will be interesting to see how that style survives as he gets older. It is my dream style though I am not a lefty and it makes me wonder whether spin is dead or not lol...

The sequence here is hilarious. Jorgic gets warned for a low toss and gets faulted on the serve after the low toss. And then after that, I fail to see the improvement in height, he could very well have been faulted again but I think the umpire gave up - still have to see whether it comes up again lol... btw, I suspect the tosses were okay - ball separation from palm and ball toss height are not the same thing and unfortunately, one is used to judge the other.

FWIW his higher toss serves were quite aways away from being vertical

Nagasaki's ball striking is so picture perfect. Makes you wonder why she doesnt have 3 world championship titles already lol. She has already made Butterfly take more of my money.

Miwa, Tomo, learn from Miyu how to use your blade lol.

Ugh! SXY horribly delaying the game down 1-2,6-10 with Miyu serving.
Well Miyu has to do a better job of not Xunyao go full power forehand. That's why she is always going long to the backhand. She knows she will usually get a chance to launch the forehand.

Harimoto’s “little kid” style is currently crushing Gauzy
Overwhelming Harimoto with power is not something most mortals can sustain, the people who can do it (WCQ, Hugo). And he reads spin to well for Gauzy's variations to work. It's just a bad matchup for Gauzy, he can't play with enough placement and precision at high speeds to make it work for a whole match.

I think Gauzy thrives with someone who is more aggressive. Harimoto’s game is very controlled and stable, Gauzy has had more joy with more aggressive players like WCQ, LJK, and the most recent example Darko

Yes, but it isn't so much the aggression (Darko is not even that aggressive, he is also very much into control despite his bomba backhands and third balls, and neither is LJK who just spins the ball but takes advantage of his physical ability to do it with more quality than most) as in that Tomo has an incredible ball reading ability that doesn't make him easily susceptible to variation and that is what Gauzy tries to use to mess up most players.
