Imo Chen Yuanyu has the Dang Qiu playstyle - very stable, good at FH and BH, nothing he excels at but nothing that is an obvious weakness. But it seems that style was good today to beat An Jaehyun 3-0
Agreed. I would argue that his forehand is actually extremely high level and his backhand is adequate. Just not powerful. But his spin level is tremendous especially on forehand.

I agree his FH is better than his BH. I just don’t think it’s his “lethal weapon”, like how Xiang Peng has his FH as his lethal weapon to compensate for his nonexistent BH

It looks like that because it isn't extremely powerful on most shots but if you take a slightly different perspective and look at where his points come from, you might see it differently. Qiu Dang wins a lot of points of blocks and backhand counters, but Chen actually likes to open over the table with his forehand more than his backhand.

Harimoto 4-0 CYY (11, 4, 8, 9)
Harimoto must have mistaken the WTT Contender for the WTTC, peaking 1 month and 1 week late.

WS F
SXY 2-4 Odo (9, -8, 8, -4, -8, -5)
WYD II is born. Like for WYD, it's Hirano again who got the momentum started.
2-3 Hirano (8, 6, -8, -11, -7) in QF at WTT CT Taiyuan 2024 (first loss to a JNT player in the Paris 2024 cycle, started playing again in 2022 after Ojio Haruna 4-0 (9, 5, 11, 10) in QF at WJTTC 2019), where Harimoto 1-3 (-10, -9, 5, -10) in R16.
0-3 Ito (-3, -5, -2) in R16 at Asian Cup 2025
2-4 Hayata (-5, 8, 8, -5, -5, -9) in R16 at WTTC 2025

石洵瑶咋看有点mini王艺迪 (SXY looks a bit like a mini WYD)

Nah, it was mostly about the luck of the draw of facing Togami... he has beaten the players he is usually supposed to beat and for familiarity reasons, it is even harder against Togami. Those of us who are higher rated than our opponents who sometimes beat us with high risk styles know this...

You look at Togami's draw and you wonder who in that draw would really have been a favorite vs Harimoto? Harimoto could still have lost it for sure, but he has winning records against those players...

Not getting bogged down by Matsushima like he was in Doha and Ljubljana is a big factor, whether from the perspective of Tieba users who call him 贅空/Sora the drag/son-in-law Sora or end results.
