A couple days left in this tournament which runs parallel with the China Smash. Top seed in MS is Cedric Nuytinck but he has been eliminated. Oddly enough, Yukiya Uda is ranked higher at WR#40, but he had to go through qualifiers and is now in the QF of the main draw. Top seed in WS is Honoka Hashimoto at WR#30.

well
a team I support, has 1 coach and 2 players there
his players has been playing at the same time, so far... and they are doing paper rock and scissors to see who can take the coach.

same even for QF... tables at the same time...(because they are on the same side of the draw)
well, if both makes its, then SF is internal battle.

and while I am typing, the last Chinese is knocked out.
of the 16 that entered, only 1 made the QF, and knocked out there (that player almost got knocked out in the R16)

CNT B team looks very average....

oh, btw, Chuang Chih Yuan is there too.
first official trip as a coach, for two of his players (total 2 coaches and 4 players entered from Taiwan).

Chuang said, when he was at the practice hall (straight from airport), he actually took out his paddle, and was about to warm up. Then he realized, he is there as a coach....

Tomorrow is actually the last day. Schedule seems tight with players having multiple matches per day.

yep, 13:30 was R16
18:55 is QF

they had a mens double SF at 3 or 4pm or something and QF was at 11 something...
not to mention played to over 9pm last night.

its really really heavy scheduling, compared to Smash (which feels like a holiday)

So he totally retired from playing? Any credit from WTT for him? If I was him I would ask if he could do an exhibition match lol but I doubt there are any live viewers.

Yeah, I just watched Sato/Hashimoto play doubles and they are playing QF now with a 10-20 minute break in-between at most.

It doesn't make financial sense to me, as if he is stays on, he has a big sum of money for another year.
Chuang did say he is tired and he wants to retire.
he been saying it since Rio, but this time, he has withdrawn from Smash to take up coaching roles

in fact, the previous Champion (his last WTT), he was in a coaching stint somewhere, and flew into Macau on the even of his first match.
he practiced a bit that evening, and he said it was the first time since Paris, that he trained seriously.
He did blocked for Kao in the Bundesliga, but other than that, he had muscle soreness after Macao
It does seem like he is probably retiring for good, but that will change a lot of things - especially his funding and the funding for his coaches/practice partners which all indirectly affect his own tt center.
but that day will come eventually and maybe it is now,,, we will see.
Yeah, I just watched Sato/Hashimoto play doubles and they are playing QF now with a 10-20 minute break in-between at most waiting for a singles match to end.

yep, most people only see the big matches/events
feeders scheduling, is really hectic
they can't afford to play over too many days

Uda likely signed up late and was put on the wait list and had to start from qualification.

CCY has officially retired (this time).

莊智淵未來動向曝光 「每天被習慣的焦慮感喊醒」

The last paragraph below on his retirement after years of mentioning it is missing from the original source.

you not giving me any information that I don't already know.
I heard the same in 2016 already

I do think Chuang will retire, but officially, he hasn't made it official yet. So, until he has given that, anything can happen (as I said, its been 8 years since he is retiring)

He needs to make an announcement to play or retire by end of the year latest.
his retirement will make a huge shift for his backend staff, which your links won't mention
