It seems like players are getting too used to Bo5.

Sato and Hashimoto are comparable to Yokoi and Odo. Two sides of the same coin but different outcomes.

WS F
Sato (14) 2-3 ZYL (2) (5, 11, -7, -6, -6, -5)
G3 68, 78, TO for ZYL, 711
G6 02 TO for Sato, 12, 14, 34, 35, 45, 49, 59, 511
Could've ended in 5. ZYL started toying with Sato after G4.
How many players have won WTT CS and SCT back-to-back?

Some Tieba users are too young.
多哈挑战赛,女单决赛,朱雨玲vs佐藤瞳,猜猜谁冠? (WTT SCT Doha, WS F: Zhu Yuling vs. Sato Hitomi, guess who will win?)

Good effort from Hitomi Sato, but congratulations to Zhu Yuling in winning back to back titles.
Maybe Zhu can get CNT to remove the pressure for mandatory retirement on the women's team if she does this for three more years lol.

sato's playstyle is awesome, fun to watch
Teammates: And fun to eat for breakfast.

LA28 looks out of touch if she doesn't win more even with a favorable draw.

Actually, I can say if ZYL were still in the national team, she won't be where she is now. Playing as an independent frees her mind from all sorts of pressures wearing a shirt with a huge 'China' printed on the back. ZYL's tech remains the same or below her peak in the past, and her physical also slowed down. But what she gained is a super calm, clean and relaxed mental state of playing the game for the sake of full enjoyment. Also, to prove to the world, especially the former or current Chinese coaches that as a control and defensive type player, she has belonged all along the elite group and still is even today.

In the final, watching how ZYL clinically handled an almost impenetrable Sato is a textbook lesson for players who don't have SYS's killer forehand or players who have average forehand power like ZYL herself. Her patience, timely attack, ball control and seamless defense eventually worn-down a great chopper like Sato, usually it's the other way around.

At a senior age for a professional table tennis player, Prof. Zhu has just won two back-to-back WTT titles and likely will upper her world ranking. Simply, remarkable!

I was not a ZYL fan in the past feeling her game was a little too soft for me. Now, I am.

She has reached a legendary status; her story of overcoming adversaries is inspiring. Her legend continues.

I understand your point but there are people her age who would still play for China if given a chance to compete for Olympic spots (Chen Meng). How everyone handles and responds to stress is an individual thing. Being able to play and compete for China when you think you still have it is not.

And the significance of this is...?
They were apparently dating for some time. Their breakup may have been fueled by the fact that Zhou Qihao is on the fringe of the NT whereas Chen is obviously a star player. According to this article, they (I guess meaning the CTTA) no longer forbid the players from dating each other, but they will intervene if they think the relationship is harming performance.

This one of those things where I miss tabletennista. They were a great source of aggregating the news out of China and bringing it to an english-speaking audience.
