I cannot brain it why in the world Hitomi Sato, the best chopper in Japan and in the world have to play in kiddie playground ( Feeder event ) and not in the main circus ( Contender / Star / Smash ) etc? She even has to start from the QLY round in the WS event. WTF?

She's second best chopper after Hashimoto and not on the National Team so has to pay her own way or find sponsors to attend tournaments. Even National Team members sometimes have to pay/get sponsored depending on the tournament. Also, there's the National Entry Restrictions (NER) which limits the number of players per country unless the tournament is undersubscribed. Being a lower tiered tournament, Feeder events will have weaker competition thus allowing her to advance deep (Feeder Otocec) or win it outright (Feeder Otocec II).

She did not have to start in the Qualification round in Women's Singles. She had to start in the Qualification round in WD and XD because she has a relatively new pairing with Shibata and a brand new pairing with Muramatsu.

If the environment is too tough maybe she should consider moving to Malaysia and train our next gen choppers.

MLTT's, Kotomi Omoda, and Japan junior Yuhi Sakai went thru qualifiers and beat the #2 Seed XD pair of Ban / Arapovic. Kotomi has really worked on her receive game which I felt was relatively poor during MLTT season 2 in comparison to the rest of her game.

Both Sato and my personal favorite Choi Hyojoo, seem to have noticed that playing a bunch of Feeders early in 2024 worked out great for Odo.

Odo won like five in a row though. Sato may be able to do that, but Choi?
