To be frank, when you are facing the most dominant female player and you are down 0:3 and trailing big in the 4th, some questionable serves won't change the outcome, not even making things complicated.
By the way two players all laughing it out on the call, it's more like a light-hearted gamesmanship in play.
A player who once beat Dima despite being much lower rated told me that he always believed he could beat anyone at anytime because no one other than God knows what will happen. You are right on the ultimate result, but thinking that way is not what will keep Sun Yingsha alert, people lose leads after timeouts all the time, the easier you can shut down momentum the better.

If Felix had a bit more experience he'd won this one IMO. He did a great job switching it up after being down 3-1, opening up with spin instead of power, and using a smaller motion and taking a bit off the ball during BH rallies. Tomo repeated dumped the spinny openings into the net while repeatedly hit long against the shorter, slower BH shots from Felix. Unfortunately for Felix, nerves got to him in the 7th and he made a couple of critical mistakes opening up and countering with power instead of sticking to the plan, each time meeting with thunderous counters from Tomo. It's natural for people to stick to what they know best when players get nervous.

As always, I like to take equipment into consideration. By most accounts Zyre appears to be an extremely fast and spinny but difficult to control rubber. It seems to fit Tomo's style well with his close to the table counter play, so I wonder if the key against it is to force the Zyre user to use his own power and not giving him power to borrow.

WHAT A MATCH! 🙌🏓🤩

Tomokazu Harimoto and Felix Lebrun contested an incredible battle which went right the way to the 7th set!

Harimoto eventually came out on top and got his first ever win against Felix in a WTT event, phenomenal performance! 👏
