Pavade moves up to around 14 seed for Paris
If she had won, that would be around 9

beating 3 top Asian players in a row at 19 years old, from Europe.... I think we have a new European champion for the next decade

And there is the yellow card for Felix smacking the ball because he can't keep his cool.
That's how he releases stress. Can't remember which, but there was a tournament recently where he got angry and did something similar, but it turned around the match and he ended up winning.

That was the thought 3 - 4 years ago when she was dominating European juniors but everything takes time - she even lost the French championships thr past two years. So let's be patient lol.

her consistency is starting to look more and more like a Chinese player comparing to her peers
So are Felix and Hugo. They are forming a layer of consistency beneath the Chinese. The problem is that they are still reliably beneath the Chinese. But I find this consistency more interesting than the kind Harimoto had of beat Fan then losing Dyjas and stuff like that.

Well that was quite the show of force. If I've gotten the rankings right, after the update on Tuesday Felix should still be ahead by 7 points? Very little in it between those two now.
For now Felix is ahead, but Hugo is signed up for Contender Lagos and Felix is not so the swap in rankings will most likely happen in a week.

This is the 3rd time in Hayata's career that she has pulled off the weekly back to back Singles titles. In 2021 she won the Star Contender Doha and Asian Championships in back to back weeks. In 2023 she won Contender Muscat and Contender Antalya in back to back weeks. And now in 2024 Contender Zagreb and Star Contender Ljubljana in back to back weeks. Pretty impressive.

I noticed this too. Felix played better after that little outburst. Maybe it releases some nervous energy and is actually helpful? Everyone's brains work a little different I guess

It was against Duda. And while I don't like such behavior as a rule, I have seen tennis players smash rackets and play better afterwards even with the conduct violation. While we all like mature perfection, as long as it is within the rules, the most important thing is to get yourself into a state of mind that allows you to play your best tennis. That is an evolving thing for every professional athlete, especially for a 17 year old.

the biggest issue is to step up to seniors
Only Japanese players (not even Chinese) has showed the quality of kids playing against adults
and now at 19, the maturity has kicked in.

Lin Yun-ju was like that in the similar age. Huge expectation to follow that age profile of HT, but Lin just matured later.
I don't follow Pravade much, so didn't really see her growth over the years, but the performance latest is incredible

Imagine if Pavade's ancestor did not emigrate to France, perhaps today we will see Pavade with pips / antis.

maybe, maybe not.
don't even need to go ancestor, her parents moved to France a year before she was born. His faster was a high level player himself

French level is higher overall than the Indians, so if the family didn't move, there is also no guarantee that Pavade would have developed to a top 20 player in the world by 19 years old.
French TT always had a strong junior development over the decades and like many countries, only a handful make it to senior level (of which there haven't been many until now again)

Lin should of just pitch and loose first round so he can go home and rest
The fine that he is getting billed is more expensive than just pitching and playing with the other hand. Not to mention, the lost in ranking point will hurt during the olympics (teams). CSY's fate is even worse.....

Still trying to understand which earlier event he withdraw, but the latest was that of the mixed team world cup, which he didn't enter to focus on the mens finals.. so technically, that isn't withdrawal....

so according to WTT, Lin is expected to pitch in both these contender/star contender, making it 17 events in 12 months cycle.
