Long term H3 user here. The H3 you're referring to are the sticky H3. All new batches (red 3 on package) are barely sticky at all. Even boosted, new H3 isn't designed to deliver the crazy spin in the old days anymore.

Old stock still exist, but in a few years H3 plays just like other hybrid.
I've been using my sheet of National H3N BS for 5 months, and it can still hold the ball for at least 3-4 seconds. Production date is stated to be March 2023 on the packaging. It's not as sticky as my old H2, but the grip is still unmatched (I have no experience with older batches of H3 though).

To me, what makes Hurricane/Skyline unique is not so much extreme tackiness, but rather the amazing grip + the dense non-bouncy yet ridiculously powerful sponge. I have tried many sticky rubbers from ESN, Yinhe, Loki, etc., some of which have been even tackier than my DHS rubbers. None of them, however, have given me the spin, grip, and control that H3 offers. There is something quite unique about the synergy between H3's topsheet and sponge that doesn't rely so much on extreme tackiness IMO.

A lot of it is sponge hardness. As a rubber gets closer to 54+ degrees, it gets closer to what Hurricane plays like IMHO. But I agree, the linearity of the DHS offerings is just different, my bestie is Skyline 3, but I also like the others a lot, just not as much.

i see your point. i cover mine with adhesive foil after cleaning with a tiny bit of dish soap and the topsheet is super sticky. New/ old version is not the problem.

im sure people have done this before!

Yes, that's it... and also total "unsurmountable" ;-) difference to hybrids, for ages, and the eternity...

Edit: I'm not really serious, sorry ;-) Let me explain... Like you, I felt in love to the response from the dense sponge. But as you know, it's double edged sword, it really only works well for say 3-4 weeks after b... And even when it works optimal, it does feel different. We love it, but other people, many many in my area, turn the head around and suggest faster rubbers... It does have a sub-conscious, well, actually conscious ;-) impact on me... I do think about alternatives... Last year actually only two (oh, development), the Tronix ZGR and this rubber, the C55... And the review is so great that I tend to the C55 now... we should all charge @doppelmoral

Exactly, one can use sheets to cover even the newer versions and make them more tacky if tackiness is what is desired. I like how they play when they are less tacky so I haven't done so.

I couldn't use the Tronix ZGR, the ball release was too quick for me, but I don't boost... maybe I should have played with it more and it did play fine on a slower blade... but it was also very heavy... I did order a sheet of C55 with my batch of skyline 3.

Very curious about your evaluation...

P.S. We should have sub-threads... This really feels as a sub-thread/chain response...

So my impressions of C55 comparing to D09c.
Yesterday played friendly match so I played 4 matches + 1 doubles.
On first shots with C55 I definitely feel difference between C55 and D09c.
First of all was very nice clicking sound of C55 which D09c doesn't have.
Also combination with inner Carbon is rly great.

Spin : I can confirm that spin from C55 is higher than D09c also there better kick effect when u do big strokes. Even brushing produce more spin than 09c.

Speed: C55 little slower than D09c so its not drastically slower. Just little.

Throw Angle : this where rubbers are different. C55 throw angle is lower than D09c which result to open more bat and for me its reason why u can produce better spin and speed on this rubber. Also the ball comes very close to the net so the opponent has big problems with it.

Hardness: despite 55 degree Its same as 09c.

Control/Block : Short Game is pleasure. I would say better than with 09c. Passive and aggressive blocks are great. I don't need to be afraid that I overshoot table when I used more strength.

Final thoughts : I was looking for H3N alternative which was for me D09c until now, If the durability is same as for 09C than this is My FH rubber for sure.

PS : I don't have chance to try it on BH but I will on the next training. I will write my impression on that too.

That sounds really promising. Well I got my red sheet of C55 coming from tt11. We'll see if it can be a better alternative to the Loki Arthur China.

Golden tango, sieger pk 50 and rakza z are high throw as 1st hybrid esn rubbers.
Everybody write here about low throw which is trademark from xiom ( xiom Vega pro is very high throw rubber so it is exception from xiom) do you think IT will work on Revoldia ? Which is low throw blade and didnt work with esn rubbers
