Unlike many inner-carbon blades that feel "lazy" unless you swing at 100% power, the S1 has a reinforced internal structure that provides a more direct energy transfer. It is designed for the modern "athletic" style—explosive, linear, and devastatingly fast.

1. Forehand & Backhand Drive

While most inner-fiber blades feel like wood during drives, the S1 has a noticeably crisper "ping" than the DHS Long V. It is more linear; the ball exits the racket with a predictable trajectory. Where the Viscaria can sometimes feel too "springy" on small movements, the S1 remains stable, allowing you to guide the drive with pinpoint accuracy.

2. Topspin: Athletic Grade Performance

This is the soul of the S1. It produces a higher power ceiling than the DHS Long V. When you engage your full body in a topspin, the S1 doesn't bottom out.

  • Vs. Long V: The S1 feels more solid and less "hollow." The power transition from the wood to the carbon is smoother, giving you more confidence to go for "winner" loops.
  • Vs. Viscaria: You get more spin than the Viscaria due to the increased dwell, but with a similar (if not higher) top-end speed. It feels like an "athletic" blade because it demands—and rewards—aggressive forearm snap.

3. Smash: Power Without the "Wobble"

Smashing with a Long V can feel shaky because of its high flex. The S1, however, has a reinforced core that allows for easy flat hitting. It behaves more like an outer-carbon blade (like the Viscaria) during a smash, providing a stiff, stable surface that drives the ball through the table. It’s one of the few high-dwell blades that doesn't sacrifice "kill" power for spin.

4. Topspin Against Backspin

The S1 is a weapon for the "third-ball attack." Because it is more linear than the Long V, you don't have to worry about the ball "flying" unexpectedly. You can dig into a heavy backspin ball, feel the Chinese rubber grab it, and then let the S1’s carbon kick in to project it forward. It produces a deeper, more piercing arc than the Viscaria, which often has a shorter, more abrupt trajectory.
