I have a BDV 39° on the way so maybe I can add a little insight there soon.

The 39 is very hard for backhand use, I just changed to Moon Blue 12 medium-, but I must admit that I didn't like it much in the first test. I guess I'll try the Hurricane 8-80 next.

Going from BDV 39° to Moon 12 Blue M- is a huge drop in hardness, it probably felt like mashed potatoes! M- is very controlled and decently spinny but not particularly fast. A very all-round rubber. 8-80 feels similar but has a bit more natural bounce. I've used M12B M- and M+, 8-80 37°, and Nittaku's 8-80 Power. They all feel pretty similar to me but 8-80 Power has the most easy-to-access speed while still being tackier and with less bounce than a Euro hybrid.

It did indeed feel very dead, and I think that I had developed a BH-technique with the BD V 39 where I brushed very much and that didn't work with the Moon 12 blue so I need to hit more direct.

I didn't like Moon 12 Blue either. This rubber has no bite. I played with it for a bit and sold it right away while it still looked new.
