Hi again,

I am about to buy few blades just for tests, as i did test 2 blades and both gave me different feels or characteristics, and i am just not in situations where i must use one blade to be better or learn or whatever, so i am open to test/use different blades and see what are the difference and why one blade giving me different feel or performance than the other, sticking with one blade i know is always a better idea but i just don't look at it this way, so i want to have the chance now to get more blades when i can afford it now then later i can worry about which one blade should be my long term.

I did choose 2 blades for now that i am looking for to order as soon as possible, and i want to know what do you think or how you rate it from your experience, and those 2 blades are:

DHS Hurricane 3
Butterfly Primorac EX

I thought about another blades to add too, but i couldn't get final decision about them, and those more blades in my mind are:

Butterfly Innerforce ALC, Innerforce ZLC, Innerforce ZLF, Timo Boll W5, Timo Boll W7, DHS Hurricane Hao III, Power-G PG7, Galaxy T-11+, Stiga Carbonado 145/190, and Defensive NCT.

If i have too much budget i may say or decide to buy 5-6 blades at once, but for now i was thinking to go with 2 blades or 3 at once, i will not always based my choice on cheap items, so i mix cheap or medium price with expensive, at the end it is me who will use and i am responsible if i will like or not, but even when i choose i try to go with models that either high quality design or better performance in one factor or popular or whatever, i chose DHS HL 3 because the rating of one side put it as it is amazing speed with control together, so i may get the speed only or i may work with control if i don't work for speed, i have blades that either giving me speed without good enough control or good control but lack enough speed, and both are giving me good times and bad, so that i decided why not try more and see what i can expect, and i chose Primorac EX due to its design and compared to the original Primorac this EX is slightly faster but as the original it has some degree of control good enough, who knows.

What do you think?

Galaxy T-11+ - very light, fast, stiff, if you put some hard rubbers, the racket will be almost rock hard

Well, it is not expensive so i can buy it, but i want to know more, please explain, to make the blade rock hard with specific rubber, what will this do for me? i mean what a hard racket be good for to have it hard?

Well, having a hard racket should lose you some feeling. Also, it won't give you the high arc of the softer blades(as your Jun Mizutani is). I can't give you an in-depth review, because I'm talking about my brother's T-11+ and i didn't play it too much. Because of it's weight, you will have a great freedom of movement. It's weight will allow you to begin the attack very fast, even off the opponent's serve. I think that if you buy this blade you should convert it into a racket for playing close to the table. I would recommend you to put on it some rubbers that aren't too hard nor too fast.

I would like to know what do you want to get from the new racket which your current one doesn't have(e.g. light weight, stiffness etc.)

I see, ok, now i got it, thank you very much!

I am going to start another thread that will be dedicated only for rubbers to compliment those blades i am planning to get, so i don't want to mix all together into one thread then i may get lost or can't follow.

Actually, my Jun Mizutani with Tenergy rubbers sounds lighter in my hand than my Yinhe N-11 and 9000E rubbers on both side, and with that slightly heavier racket i had better control over my JM+Ten racket, so am i missing something here or different blades and weights can be different too?!!!

Well, about your last line question, i really don't know, but maybe i may have a racket or blade with rubbers that give me better performance than my BTY JM+Ten or N-11 + 9000E ones, with JM racket i have the speed and power but control against spinney serves or returns or even high balls most of the time i get it out of the table so easy, even when i try to calm down my arm or my hits still i miss it more than i win, and also when i serve, a lot of serves are out of table, because it is really too fast, and i must be high offensive player to get more winner shots, i did that against lower level or beginner players, so i felt i need something slower a bit, in other hand, that N11 with 9000 sounds better for serves and push/block, but it lacks the strength for attack or offensive enough, i got more winner shots with it because i managed to serve better and also to return a lot of spinney serves well, but against very offensive player or even against my defensive closer friend i couldn't go much far either with it, so it is like with BTY JM racket i can have about 20-30% winning, and with N11 racket i can get around 40-55% winning, and soon i will assemble my defensive BTY blade with some rubbers i asked a coach to order for me and will test it, that is why i felt or i thought different rackets may give me different feeling or performance, could be better or maybe not, with the 2 rackets i already have i saw the difference immediately in first month or week of playing with them, why not with other rackets too?!!!

And also buying more rackets i will have more backups if one racket will damage or get lost, and if i have friends i can always give them one if they don't have one to play with, in the future when my situations getting better i am looking for to buy a table too, so i can play with my kids or some friends who i can invite to my house to play, having more rackets is no harm if i can manage to afford and not big deal, sure one racket will have my top priority or fav after a while, but really i feel that one day i will end up with JM racket, but i feel that N11 with 9000 is for very beginner somehow, because it make me as a defensive and all around player more than an offensive side, so it was like i am looking for a racket that is between my BTY JM and Yinhe N-11, who knows, i may get something that i will prefer more than both of what i have already.

So, it seems that the N-11 is an Allround+ blade. It seems that Jun Mizutani is an OFF+ one(please write if I am wrong). So, you are probably needing an OFF-/OFF blade. Also, it seems that 9000E aren't very fast rubbers. I think the problems you have with spinny serves on JM are because of the rubbers. The son of my coach has a JM with T05 on both sides. Yes, Tenergy are great rubbers for attacking, but they seemed way to sensitive to spin to me. I also have problems in the short play with them, I think these problems come from their softness and speed, they work like a catapult so it's difficult to keep the ball low. As for the blades, the Galaxy N-9 seemed very interesting to me. It is dirt cheap and there are a lot of good reviews of it. It also seems to be faster. I was watching the Power G7, too. I was even thinking to buy it, but 90g is too heavy. Also it's too fast(OFF+).

I think we have pretty similar preferences in terms of speed. I really recommend you to have a look at someone's Timo Boll Forte, if there are players in your region who own it. It is on the slower side of OFF strategy, gives a pretty good dwell time, has a good amount of feeling and nice control. If you put Acuda S1 Turbo on it, the racket will very good for away from the table play, but you may have some problems in beginning the attack(opponent's serve attacking, 3rd ball attack). If you put Acuda S2 on it, you will have a good racket for close to the table play, and i think that this option will fit better your speed requirement. I have found it easier to return spinny serves with my TBF/S1T/S2 combo than with the JM/T05 one.

The Butterfly blade comparison table should help you to understand how Timo Boll Forte and other Butterfly blades will perform comparing to your blade(links below). In the first chart there isn't Timo Boll Forte, but I have found it easier to understand than the chart from Butterfly's new catalogue.

http://www.butterflyonline.com/templates/BladeSpecifications.pdf
http://www.butterfly.tt/info/products/catalog

I have to say that I made a mistake by putting rubbers for different ranges of play on one racket. Now, I have problems with playing with the backhand away from the table, because S2 is slower and doesn't give the high arc of the S1 Turbo.

I have also seen you mentioned in options a Stiga Defensive NCT. I think that for trying the defensive style of play you should begin with something cheaper, maybe from the Galaxy range, they have such blades.

Feel free to share your experience with playing other players' rackets, that would help a lot.

You are right, it sounds that JM is OFF+ and N-11 is almost Allaround, and i tend to agree with you that i think Tenergy rubbers were the reasons i can't return the serves good enough or low, very sensitive as you said, even the coach made a quick test with 9000E rubber, he compressed on the ball and it was like stuck on the rubber when he pulled up the racket, and he said that it is not the case with Tenergy rubbers, so it is like that 9000E absorb the balls more so it doesn't throw the ball high or off the table most of the time.

I was thinking about N-9 too, but i felt it may not be that much big different than my N-11 already, so i skipped it, in fact i looked at N-2 more than N-9, but i was thinking no need to go with all series of same brand, i have N series 1 blade, time to have another series, T series was the one i looked at to get from YH Galaxy, but as you said, cheap prices can give me the option to buy even 3 Galaxy blades of different series without big spending.

I am not sure i may find or test others Timo Boll Forte blade if they have, i saw most are using Timo Ball Spirit or TB ALC or that one with green handle same design of ALC one, but from the picture of that Forte i think i never saw one having it, but i don't know why you chose that one as option over other Timo Ball versions and you are the only one who recommended or mentioned this one for me, many others recommended another versions of TB such as Spirit or ALC or ZLF, but it is your recommendation and you know what to choose.

About rubbers this is another story, i said i will start another thread about it as i chose few rubbers, and i didn't want this thread to be very long as i made before, so i will keep rubbers topic separate so it will not go much longer in one thread already.

About that Stiga Defensive NCT, well, it is in my lowest priority options, it is not that much big important i really want to get, but from what i read it sounds very amazing for defensive style over other options, and it has that price same like Butterfly, brand quality or name, but i don't think want to have another defensive blade, i have BTY Defensive III i didn't test it and i feel this will be enough and sufficient and i may not look for another Def blade even that BTY one i have is not the best or not helping me much for defensive.

Also i mentioned that i will buy 2-3 blades if possible, i forgot to mention that i don't want to buy all of those blades as OFF- or ALL+ or slower all of them, i may go with one high speed, one ALL+, and last one is maybe OFF- so then i can see all different style of blades, and maybe one fast blade can be better control than another blade that may be fast also but not as much fast, so i will never know until i do try by myself, and also i forgot to mention that i also try to chose those blades according to nice design, there are many, so out of different designs i try to choose the one that is more reviews for quality or performance or characteristic, i love my JM blade, very nice and elegant even it is pink for girl, but i like the design and the blade is really nice except i did put fast rubbers on it.

So, with my choices of DHS Hurricane 3 and Primorac EX you think both are not good options even for test? a coach told me that the blade may have a percent on the performance but the most percent goes for rubbers, so it is like it doesn't matter much which blade, i may go with cheap or expensive or nice design or heavy, once i put a rubber it will be another story, i really like that Primorac EX colors of handle, same with TB W5 or W7 and ZLF and Carbonado blades.

Thank you very very much for your replies to my posts here, it will open up my mind and knowledge for more details, and i am not in rush yet, but wanted to be ready once i decide anytime for anything.

I said nothing about the DHS Hurricane 3 and Primorac EX because i didn't play any of them.

Also, I think I won't agree with your coach's opinion, the blade is making a pretty important effect on the racket's overall performance. As you may remember from one of my previous posts, i have two rackets : the first is Timo Boll Forte with S1 Turbo/S2 and the second is Galaxy T-2 with Acuda S1/S2. The rubbers are pretty the same, but the rackets overall are completely different. The Timo Boll gives a higher arc from distance, has a softer feel and it is heavier. The T-2 is stiff, the arc is very low so it's very-very difficult to play loops away from the table, but it is lighter and it is easier to flick with it and to begin the attack first.

As for the Timo Boll ALC, I played a week ago this blade paired with T05. It seemed to me some slower and more controlable than the Mizutani, so it would be great if you try one of the rackets of the players you mentioned. I think it would be easy for you to find exactly the same combo that I played, since you said that there are a lot of players playing this blade.

I think you can easily solve the JM problem in the short game by changing your rubbers, but I will wait for the rubbers thread you were talking about so share my opinion, so it will be good to you if you open it faster.

As for the T-Series of Galaxy, the T-2 and T-11+ are very stiff. But I have tried my friend's T-8 paired with Bluefire M1/JP01, and it seemed to me softer than the first two, even if the rubbers are harder than the Acudas on my T-2.

It is very important that you aren't in rush. If you want to choose a new blade, you should have patience, otherwise you will make a mistake, as I did with one of my blades. Think a lot and use every opportunity to try other players' rackets when you something that is interesting to you.

As for the Timo Boll Forte, the reason for me was the budget. I couldn't afford something that costs even 80$. But this blade has proven to be a very nice one. I have to agree that there aren't too many players using it. While being a referee(~1 and a half year) i have seen nobody in my country playing it, except a friend of mine.

It is ok, i wasn't referring to you only, i was guessing that there are many members did read this thread so no one did comment about other blades, not necessary you know all the answers or tried all the blades i am looking for, even if i have a lot of budget i will not buy many blades or rackets.

And that is why i wanted to buy more blades, in fact himself tried many blades, and he also said that even same blade can be different due to woods used in the same both blades, tree to tree can be different even same tree, so it is like he answered himself without knowing it or saying it is different or has something to do with blade.

Honestly speaking, Timo Boll blades are not my top priority, sure there are few versions great or maybe all of them, but i am not forced to have one of them as a must, but i can always try one or two of TB blades, i just keep looking around at many options first, i may find something that can be better, and i still love that my JM and it surpass that TB in quality, but i am sure many don't look at that due to price and level of player to buy it, i will never give up my JM even if i lose all games, i did lose one day all games and i still think it is an amazing racket i have, just i am not ready for it and i wasn't in mood at all that day, and the thing i didn't mention about this JM is that it is really great and strong with Tenergy rubbers for far/away from table and fast loops and the FH with it was better than my N-11, just my BH was better with N-11 than my JM racket, it is not bad at all, i am bad playing so that the blade/rubber are still higher than me.

Let's make it this way, put that JM/Tenergy racket as 90% and that N-11 as 20-30%, i was thinking of a racket [blade+rubber] that can give me something about 65-75% from beginning, so it is not that fast and it has more control than N-11, i know faster blade may lack Control and amazing control blade will be slow against so fast offensive style, and i know i will take very long time until i can improve my time, so until that long time will come i want to have that blade that can give me something average, i didn't see that completely with N-11 and JM is still so fast and i will take very long until i can put it under 90% control, i know all will tell me to have coach and improve my style and move and whatever, but this is gonna take very long time, and who knows i may give up before i reach that long time of improvement, so i fill that gap by using more rackets to have fun and curiosity to use to keep me on track.

I already started a thread about rubbers only.

(not read through everything, but) I'd just like to mention, in terms of budget, most DHS expensive rackets have a cheap PG version and opposite.
(I believe TG is somehow too, but not 100% certain about every similarities and differences)
PG7 is a cheap version of Hurricane Long (80% sure it's 2..)
DHS Hurricane Hao 3 has the PG-13 cheap edition, which is from my perspective a very good racket, the difference from PG to the expensive once is mainly just the quality control, so it COULD be a gamble on buying the PG, I've got one penhold HH3 and One shakehand Pg 13, they are very similar, and there is not alot of difference to be felt (using same rubbers), although I for my own part do think my Pg-13 is maybe 10% below in quality from my HH3.
Though overall budget vice PG is 3-4 times less expensive, and you get much more for the money (at least hopefully, as PG blades can be more different from blade to blade). If you like topspin/looping a bit away from the table, I'd say the Pg-13/HH3 has a small advantage to long. Same with the Long blades close to the table. (Though that theory is from reading reviews, not tested on my own, appart from knowing Pg-13/HH3 is great for looping and especially a bit away from the Table!)

See, you have 2 versions and tested both and you can tell the difference, so now if i didn't one or both of them how i can tell the difference?
I have a feeling that i better look always to top quality items either blades or rubbers or whatever, so i don't need to buy cheap then later the expensive one, if i can afford it then i go for it, but when i asked about that blade model i wasn't asking about cheaper version, but i was asking about how good is that blade and what will it be different than let's say Butterfly or Stiga or Donic expensive ones, i care less very less about the price and care more about the quality and whatever.

Also, even if i buy that DHS expensive one, i can manage to buy also the cheap one which is PG series, but it is like i buy 2 cars, one is expensive and one is cheap and i use one of them only, but i know expensive car could have something that cheaper one may not have, just i can't give examples like that.

My another option or second blade i mentioned is BTY Primorac EX, so no body talked about it and they only focused on that expensive DHS option and recommending the cheaper one of PG series, so no one did use that Primorac EX as well? from reviews it shows that it is almost same as the original or normal Primorac version but slightly faster, i am not sure about that normal Primorac actually but sounds it has good reviews, so is that mean the EX should be good it even slightly faster?

Something in my mind telling me to buy DHS and Primorac EX and T-11+, but i can't close my eyes about Innerforce versions too or Timo Boll Wx/ALC/ZLC for example, damn even that Stiga Carbonado is tempting, but i have to narrow my choices to about 2 or 3 only if i will buy one expensive, if you all only recommend cheaper ones then i can buy 5-6 at once then, I have Jun Mizutan ZLC and this alone made me to Cancel Super ZLC versions of JM and ZJK at once from my list, the only BTY versions i keep looking at are Innerforce, Primorac EX and Timo Boll 3 models only, and from another brand i have no much idea but i try to focus on 2-3 brand names, Stiga, DHS and Yinhi[Galaxy].

Yeah I Noticed, the reason I didn't mention BTY was because I have no experience with it lol, just said what I knew about the PG and HH3. My point there was that the PG could be about as good, but it could also be not, that's the gamble. But if you want to be certain for top quality and price is of no matter, certainly go for the expensive one and not PG. I honestly don't know anymore than you when it comes to Buterfly so, I'd sugest you just search around more, if not possibly someone else who knows more could reply. In terms of blades it usually depends more on the blade than the brand, although some brands, like for example Stiga/Nittaku/Butterfly are said to make some of the best blades, Donic might be the next after there. DHS/Galaxy are said to be the best in terms of budget. That's just a majority calculation from what I've seen/read over the net though.
I do btw agree on this
"Also, I think I won't agree with your coach's opinion, the blade is making a pretty important effect on the racket's overall performance."
I went from Yasaka Silver Line, to HH3 (have also tried a Galaxy w8) and those were very different blades and they do highly affect the performance of the rubber, mainly in terms of trajectory and feel. I was actually a bit upset with Silver Line compared to HH3 (with the same rubber) tbh.
Overall I'd just sugest you look around on reviews online, find 2 or 3 blades that seem fitting to your style yet a bit diferent and try them.
Not much more to say tbh. From my perspective I'd Highly recommend Hurricane Hao 3. Because I noticed you wrote: "for far/away from table and fast loops and the FH with it was better than my N-11" as I assume you then have a mid distance-far from the table looping technique, HH3 could not possibly go wrong, wether or not it's better than your current blade (for you) though, is a matter that can only be found out through trying it. ;)

Good luck on picking blades!

Thank you very much for your great post, i really appreciate it a lot!

In fact i play close to the table most of the time, i was testing both rackets and found that my BTY JM+Ten rubbers was better if i play far to med of the table, while that N-11 keeping me very much close to the table most of the time, i like to play more closer to the table and med, not that far to table type player, but i know one day or another i will tend to play more far to the table too, so that my JM racket will be ready that time.

Only glad to be of help!

Interesting! In that case it's up to you, it works close to the table too most definitely, I'd just say it's optimized for a bit away from the table..
Would ofc not hurt trying it, but in that sence the Hurricane Long 3 or 5 might be more up your alley, but all three works splendid.
There are so many good blades, I do btw asume you checked this out in regards to the carbonado? ->
http://www.tabletennisdaily.co.uk/f...an-Zhendong-s-thoughts-on-the-STIGA-Carbonado
I'd also like to give a honorable mention, to a blade I've very much wanted to try, but I'm mainly a penholder and there's not a C-pen for it outside china (I even sent a message to Nittaku about it to find out this lol) so I have because of that not bought it. But Nittaku Barwell Fleet, with them Glassfiber plies.
HH3 also has glassfiber, though yet very diferent blades due BF being 7 + 2 plies vs 5 plies and Walnut outer vs Koto outer ply, been wanting to try it so bad lol, but too expensive for me to just buy a shakehand version when I play penhold. Not trying to give you a harder time picking xD But maaan, that blade.

Checking and comparing compsition of diferent blades is btw very interesting, fun and somehow educational! (at least for some xD)
you could check out this if you want to:

Anyhow, I'm sure your Jun Mizutani does great for your play (probs would for most offensive players), if you want to test some others, do so, but just don't let it go to your head about which blades to choose! Because the blade is only as good for you as you play it. :p

I understand that, and i try my best to make the blade works in my hand, but right tool can be there too for the right person, we always assume any tool can be right if we are right, but something we may pick wrong tools as well then people think it is us who are wrong not the tool, but only when i keep using i can tell which one is good for me and not good for me [but good to others].

Also, as long i have difficult time or situations to do TT more often, so i try to force myself to buy more so i can't go back or stop TT then, if i didn't buy more or have more equipment then due to my situations i may give up TT very soon.

That could be true lol, but I've heard that could ruin the balance and not easy to fix. Dunno if I want to take the chance lol.
I did btw find one chinese page that shipped to Norway not long after posting that o.o

Bretty interesting. Though atm I don't have enough money to buy it lol, I've been buying maybe a litle too much TT equipment lately, considering, I don't even go to a club. And I'm very happy with my current combo, but maybe some day. :p
