I usually buy rubber from Bribar and they tell me that the ratings they publish are based on testing the rubbers (which would seem an awful lot of testing!). However, when I compare the Bribar ratings with those on the table tennis database I find huge inconsistencies. For example, when I look at Geospin Tacky and Tenergy 05 FX (the 2 rubbers I am currently using) and compare with Tihbar 5Q Sound Power Update and Tihbar Aurus Sound (which I have never used but have been considering), I find that Geospin Tacky is the highest rated of the 4 for Control by Bribar (which is what I would expect) but the lowest rated of the 4 by the table tennis database! Also Tenergy FX is rated 3rd of the 4 for spin whereas it is 1st of the 4 on the database.
