Truly terrible to clean this one. The rubber breaks away from the sponge in mico-parts.. (

I've done this quite a few times....
advice:
find some liquid like a dilutant and spread it all over the sponge.
after this you can take the sponge out very easily with a plastic thing like a ruler.
if not you will go crazy taking it out with your fingers, and it hurts pretty bad as well.
I still remember the calluses I got the first times I did this.

the way I used to do it I wouldn't even take the rubber off.
I'd just put the liquid on top of the rubber, let it soak really well into the sponge, and then with something like ruler just scratch and take everything together out.

Do you have a brand name?

A word of causion: make sure you don't put to much on at once. A dilutant, or acetone as im using disolves the glue.. May harm the glue that holds your plies together if you overdo it..

I remember once I went to a store and asked for rubber cement but since it was thick and dense I asked for something more liquid.
the guy told me to dilute it with a product he sold make specifically for this purpose.
I don't know what it was made of but it was nasty.
you'd throw it to a sponge and it would get absorbed and then you could just rub it off with anything.
even those old stiga sponges.
haven't seen anything like it online, maybe this could be similar

Excellent stuff for boosting the sponge if you don't care about VOCs. Could get you high as well. But kind of bad for your brain cells.

Awesome find. It won't be as fast as the Bandas but it will have a really nice feel. All these classic blades you have refurbished, I think you may have to switch back to shakehand to utilize those beautiful flared handles.

I totally agree. I've tried that as well and it works excellent. Just try to pour a few drops between sponge and blade and carefully pull the sponge off. Whenever the sponge doesn't come off easily just pour a few drops more. The lighter fluid i've used is equivalent to gasoline.
One of my clubmates thought he could outsmart me and be faster and put his blade in the microwave.
I must say that was the stupidest thing i've ever seen. 'Cause just like Liten described, if you overdo the disolves the plies come apart. So not only the glue from the sponge but also the glue holding the plies together became liquid, so his blade got kinda uneven after that.

I'll post some pics if he still hasn't deleted them already. I really felt sorry for him, cause the blade was an old Stiga as well.
Believe me, you sure don't want that to happen to your beautiful masterpiece of swedish craftmanship.

Yeah, I was wondering about the speed. How would you rate it?
I get it wont be as fast as my bandas, this blade is to light for starters. It may be the lightest blade ive held.

The handle is one of the most comfortable ive held for penhold! Its JUST the right length. Short enough for penhold, just long enough for shakehand.

As I understand it this blade is from somewere between -73 to -85?

Will sure be fun to play!
