What a great thread. I ran across this after searching "Limba". Was hoping to find a listing of blades that use Limba in one place. I'm starting to get pretty interested in compositional make up of different blades. lots of good info here.
I recently chipped power wood, my favorite blade on the edge of the table. I will replace it, it's to good and affordable not to. But I was also wondering if anyone knows of a thinner offense off- looping blade (5.7 ballpark) that is using Limba as a outer ply. So roughly the virtuoso make up at about half the price? Some Day when I can justify it I will give the virtuoso off- a try.

the more I read about the composition of blades the more interesting what Nexy has been doing with their blades as become. Color, spear, Spartacus, Peter Pan, even calix. Look interesting. Obviously they're not all Limba, some hinoki and composite blades, and many would not be right for me but interesting nonetheless. I will keep an eye out for information on blades since there seems to be some good info, reviews but I Didn't find a ton or I don't know where to look. I actually thought the Spartacus blade sounded interesting after reading comparisons in a Peter Pan review.

limba limba ayous, thinnest is primorac that I can think of. I remember researching all the various blades with this composition because a friend wanted to replace their STRAIGHT handled korbel.

butterfly primorac
butterfly korbel
Osp Virtuoso off- (I think you can get a thinner model of this if you email them) plus the quality is the best since it's handmade
butterfly discontinued adolecene (something like that) you'd have to find that used probably.
appelgreen allplay (my first blade <3) cheap price too.

LOTS of options with that make up. find the handle you like most. for you, you wrap the handle in grip tape to make it bigger anyway so the handle wouldn't matter. No reason to go butterfly probably since the price isn't justified in their all wood blades. OSP best quality + you can customize it to your liking. Change the headsize, handle shape, they'll even engrave your name or something in it if you'd like.

Hinoki is my favourite. I am a penholder.
My favourite and only blade is Darker Speed 90 10mm. I can do RPB. I like it because it's soft and low in short game, yet explosive in counterloop and power loop.

uhm I don't really know any good wood blades
I have only used my own blade so far which is all wood and I like it :)
However it would be great if people could suggest me some wood blades that are easy to get.
Some websites have really expensive shipping to Australia sooooooo yea I don't really get a change to try them :(

uhm I have only used 1 blade and have no what so experience in choosing a good blade for me hahahaahaha
I kinda want an upgrade and hope you guys can give me insight on a better blade than mine? (if that makes any sense)

I'm gonna stick to my blade for now but I'm definitely gonna try and get a new blade to test it out :)

One of the cool things about the blades made by Nexy is that they all really seem to have a great amount of feeling.

Based on what you are using I would try the Kim Jung Hoon which is a blade Nexy designed for Tibhar. But the Peter Pan is great and the Spear so is the spear.

Carl and jirrex thanks for the links! I actually find the compositional make up stuff pretty interesting. My dad's a work woodworker and he has a pretty decked out shop, i'm sure at some point I'll end up mess around with him and try to put some blades together for fun.
Shuki totally does not surprise me that you would have previously looked up just knew what the thinnest limba limba blades are. Great stuff. I just order a new power wood today and I also picked up a donic appelgren since was on sale for 20 bucks at tt11. But the next blade I get will probably be a osp or nexy.

Kim Jung Hoon is SWEET. It is the middle ground I chose for main weapon. Every Nexy blade has its unique characters and advantages, but the Kim Jung Hoon had the best balance of what I do.

Feeling is important, I got feeling even with teh OFF+ Qabod. Akrasia, pegged as fastest blade in hte world, is too fast for me to feel the ball right, but hitter love it. I mostly loop. That is about the only blade in hte line-up I could blindly draw, slap on my rubbers in my sig and go a it with confidence I wont drop level in a match.

My Kim Jung Hoon is broken and I ordered my replenishment from Korea today, I have been using Lissom (a slow Def+ to OFF- 5 ply wood), the Amazon (another all wood blade), the Calix (THIN carbon flexy), the Kanaph (Beast of blocking and away from table power spin), and the bomb of them all, the rocket Qabod that still has enough dwell on openers. I carry these an more around with me to each club and could literally dig hand into bag blind and play without losing a beat. I got the same rubbers on most of them, that helps a lot.

I've been eyeing the Kim Jung Hoo for some time now. Waiting on promotion sale or a used one...

ROK, we do not have a special at NexyUSA.com on KJH, and the big 25% off special on the Calix Series (Calix I, Calix II, Qabod) already ended, but what the heck, if you want a Calix series 25% off flash the Bat Sign tonite over Gotham City and I can get the CEO to accept the discount, he will support me, like my decisions or not. If you are to get a Calix series, I am sure CEO would go along for a small double digit discount on the KJH to sweeten the deal...

Nexy Korea or my CEO can hate on me, but whatever...

Carl's V+ with MX-P was a mighty mean consistent loop machine. PP Holic and I are prolly real close in level, but that day, using the V+ with MX-P, I think PP Holic woulda thrown in the white towel before the match started. (we didn't play, I only looped 5 minutes) Everything I hit landed how I wanted it, whether slow or power, with enough spin to kick a mule's azz.

I'll counter loop, oops, I mean counter offer... [emoji12]

How about KJH + Lissom? One is your favorite, and the other BH's favorite...

I've been eyeing Lissom as well apart from the KJH... [emoji41]

That would be two awesome Nexy blades. One thing for sure, Nexy knows how to make blades that feel great whether they are all wood or composite. Their composite blades have better feeling than most others I've tried.

Carl, what's your V+ handle shape? I like 5-ply wood but SPW is too damn big and the handle doesn't suit me. Was thinking of adding OSP V or V+ to the collection if their squared ST handle is basically the same dimension as TB ALC or MJ

A flare. Their flared handles are my favorite handle ever.

But they can make anything.

If you told them you wanted the same exact size/shape handle as a TB Straight Square, they can make it: I think that costs $10.00 extra for a custom handle. But they can do anything you want.

That is one of the advantages of having someone make a racket for you by hand.

I had a hit with my buddies penhold calix 1 with the Els, mxp skins on Wednesday. I didn't hit for a long time maybe 50 loops but it felt great. I mostly hit the ELS since I've already tried Mxp. it was a spiny set up with ball landing short on the table with good pace. The brief encounter stands out, very fun set up.

ray has that setup on a kanaph, you should try that out. Calix has unique characteristics that kind of confuse me on what I'm feeling. Not sure if it's the blade I like or a rubber at times with that blade.

Cool, I guess I'll just order one and sell the rest of my blades except for IF ZLC. Now, anyone interested in SPW, TBS, YEO, and Offensive S? :D

Also, do you think i should grab the Virtuoso, or the V+? For reference my 88-89 gram SPW with R7 is plenty fast enough and the speed is pretty similar to my IF ZLC with T05. I probably prefer it to have the same speed as SPW but wouldn't mind for the blade to be slightly slower since I'm looking for 84-86 gr blade
