Hi! Today I play a setup close to that of Mattias Karlsson. Play styles are similar, my backhand is not as strong though so I tend to do more controlling with it.
I play Whale III on BH and 802-40 with different sponge on FH. Blade is a Rosewood Nct V.
Backhand, like I said, is mostly control and some opening spins, forehand is a lot of hard hitting, occasional loops. I am missing lots of my loops, feels like I have too much throw (catapult). Backhand is OK but since FH is my weapon, it's a problem. I really like the forehand rubber, because it feels more versatile than Rakza PO, but I can't get it to work.

Before I played Rakza X, Rakza PO and Maplewood Nct V. This was better for my forehand but I couldn't find anything good for my backhand.

My thinking is that the problem could be that I am using the rosewood. For a lots of short pips players, Clipper and other stiffer blades seem more popular.

What do you suggest? I need something that will give me sufficient control on backhand, and ability to produce spin, but something that also allows me to bash the ball as hard as I can on forehand.

I am not certain it is a blade problem, but my attention is directed towards it.

Thanks for your help

According to net reviews they are very solid 7 plies only wood blades. Viva is little thicker ( around 6,5 mm ) and probably with better control. P700 is faster with bigger head size.

Hey Creatoner

Welcome to the Dark Side :))
I Have recently posted about the same thing but asking for the best FH Rubber SP.
Ive been playing for 1 1/2 Months with FH SP and Inverted BH

I suggest Getting Soft or Med Blades.
1 ply hinoki is great with SP. Soft feel with Speed and Control
Donic Cayman is an All+ rated but feels like an off blade. It has this dampening effect that makes it great with SP.
I tried my Mates blade with Donic Baxter and it felt great.

What im using right now for my FH is DHS 802 2.0mm.

Btw if i may ask, whats your review on Rakza PO?

Best regards,
Amekun

Thank you for the input!

I think Rakza PO has amazing potential. Less spin than 802-40 IMO, but for me it was maybe better suited. With the Rakza sponge it has very good feel, the pips themselves have OK grip. Overall good speed for attacking and loops work but aren't too easy. My advice to you is to watch Mattias Karlsson, he shows the true potential of the rubber. He uses it perfectly! The former Swedish national coach says he should use the 802-40 with swapped sponge though, to get better grip..

For me it gave the perfect throw, a little bit of rise and then back down, hitting very hard. I think it gives a bit of backspin as well, when hitting flat.

Before I played with Haifu Dolphin. Liked it even better I think, although I had to remove it and couldn't buy another one because it was sold out everywhere. Might buy another one and go back.
