how bout another butterfly blade? The Innerforce Layer ALC was awesome when I tried it. Has high throw with H3 neo and a tad faster than Viscaria but the feel is different and feels better than viscaria.

Not faster than a Viscaria according to Butterfly spec charts and in my experience.

from what I remember, the dotc was about the same as the tdpc (~1571). Viscaria was around 1510. But my DOTC is too stiff whereas the TDPC is flexy. As I said, different 2nd layer.

edit: my 2nd TDPC blade shall be put up for sale in the other forum tonight along with some other blades when I get a chance.

I thought the frequency of vibration was a measure of the stiffness - I know the blades might feel different but why would a blade with a higher frequency of vibration be stiffer than one with a lower frequency?

That stiffness (in response to ball hitting blade) is not fully related to the flex as we talk informally.

An example you may be familiar with: Timo Boll ZLC is generally OFF+ as compared to the OFF Viscaria despite the fact that it is more flexy. I haven't read frequency readings but it is more bouncy as well.

A different case: MJ is less bouncy than Viscaria (lower frequency reading) but generally more powerful.

The flex we talk about is in response to the force exerted to the blade by your swing - which is different than the force exerted to the blade by the ball. Ideally, you would want to measure flex (or stiffness) as a (non-linear) function of the force applied (but of course, this is too laborious).

The Timo ZLC has been rated as slower than the ZJK ALC, Timo ALC and Viscaria by Butterfly. This is also what a 2200 junior at my club felt (he uses the ZJK ALC now). But a lot of this is above my head. I will look closer at the details of the Timo ZLC and see whether I can make sense of the OFF+ perception. I know there are other bending nodes etc. related to flex but I really haven't made head or tail of it.

Don't trust manufacturer's tables: they also rate the Korbel as faster than the Innerforce Layer ZLC. Madness.

Your club junior is wrong: perhaps he was comparing, say a 82g TB-ZLC with a 90g ZJK-ALC?

But this is digression. I currently own a few Viscarias (86g - 91g) and the TDPC (86g): the latter is a bit faster.
