Can they just move WTTC to a different city?

Shenzhen will likely go into lockdown soon. Not sure how many that will follow or already is.

They should move to Germany (just hosted Euro champs last week).

This is a 40 team (x 5 players) x 2 gender team tournament., so 400 players, so up to 1000 visitors (excluding spectators)
I think any country can do it with 1 months notice, it would be Germany.

Not sure how "close loop" CTTA can promise these 1000.
The covid zero policy will or will not be enforced by the visitors remain to be seen.

Not to mention, teams has no individual players ranking points up for grabs, so would any player want to take part in return for no personal gain?
The whole ITTF/WTT been punting ranking points for past 2 and half years.

So Chengdu lockdown from Thursday for 4 days (scheduled to end today) has been increased by another further 3 days.
I think it is very slim that the lockdown will finish is 3 days time.

Based on what happens to Shanghai, few days became 2 months.

Lets hope Chengdu can get out of this mess asap.

political reason, like what ??????

Rumors had it that Shanghai lockdown was politically driven. Since there is 2 mafia groups, one of them is the Beijing family, the other is Shanghai.
There is a major CCP meeting coming up on 16 Oct and Beijing family is aiming to be victorious there.

But then again, I am in the view that if you push the people (citizen) too far, they will rebel (just like any dynasty for the past 5000 years)

This would open up a whole new can of worms. Don't want to derail the OP's thread. But Tony is right.

The whole communist regime is based on corruption. So there are people who benefit from all the unnecessary testing. Can you believe there are politicians that make kick back money from the sales of test kits? Think of how many millions (billions?) of test kits are being used?

these are not political reasons, just greed, a phenomenon well known all over the world, regardless
of a political system.
