Has anyone bought the DHS balls from AliExpress? Would these be good balls for training on my robot?

DHS makes many different balls, which ones are you aiming at ?
I use a 3 star training ball from Hueison in my robot. They last a long time without becoming glossy .
I buy them in packets of 100 from aliexpress

I bought DHS 3 star D40+ balls from AliExpress. I paid like $16 for 20. They are EXCELLENT.

I bought months ago and I am still on my first ball as it never breaks. It has a nice grippiness to it and a perfectly consistent bounce and nice weight.

If I'm not mistaken, the D40+ ball is the same ball used by Yinhe and Sanwei. So you could buy from either of those brands and get the same ball for possibly lower price.

haha noo. I was looking at 50 for $35 to replace training balls in my garage for my robot. The owner of my club used to be able to get me doublefish balls for cheaper, but apparently he's unable to get those anymore. I've heard good things about DHS D40+ but i just wasn't sure if these vendors were legit or not.

I asking because unless you got a high quality precision machine , top quality balls will be a waste of money.😁

I have like 400 balls in my garage lol. I use an Amicus Prime. It does what I need it to do, but the software is kind of crap and it doesn't seem like Butterfly aims to update it. If I'm buying again I'd probably get the Powerpong Omega. It's the same hardware but cheaper and with a team who actually cares about selling robots so updates their software.

If its just for a robot, the D40 is kind of a overkill. It's legitimately a very good ball.

You could get away with a 2 star or 1 star training ball for robot.

So back to good old DHS. I found a H3 40deg OS and wanted to experiment. It was so old that it still had the previous printing on the sponge and it got unboosted just sitting. Actually, I never liked it, I never really liked any orange sponge H3. They are OK but they always felt slow even if I boosted them, especially compared to a blue sponge rubber. It's just a commercial version too so nothing fancy either.

I boosted it with a layer of Winion which is identical to Haifu Seamoon, just a different bottle but it's the same stuff for sure. Then I added a layer of FTL and first glued it on my Sanwei 75 PBO. It was very fast and very arc-y. I had to make an effort not to arc or I just overarced the table. At the same time if I got a very low, underspin ball and smashed it it was greeeeat. I was like dayumn dawg.
I like this Sanwei blade since it's light (85g) good FL handle, DHS W968 headshape, very fast etc. It has fishscale top koto which is nice but nothing sticks to it well. It doesn't seem to be varnished either so I have no idea why the glues don't stick to it. Winion (Haifu glue) doesn't stick to it, Revolution doesn't stick to it, and it's very annoying. The blade is very fast even with G-1 on BH so that is a bit of a concern too.

So I glued the H3 and G-1 to my W968 and it seems very good. G-1 was always lovely on it, and for whatever reason I never glued H3 on it yet before. It would make sense to do so since that's what China is doing but I don't have H3 BS and OS felt slow on faster blades so I was like no way that can work. Since this boosted H3 felt too fast on the Sanwei I was thinking the W968 is slower so it might be better suited for G-1 too.

I glued the H3 with the Winion glue and it's lively. I think this glue works better with dense Chinese rubbers it makes them even more bouncy. Revolution has a pretty firm glue layer it's not yielding much, this one does and it's very stretchy if you remove it and it's strong. 4 layers come off with one pull even from pored rubbers, from Chinese probably 2 layer comes off in a piece with some care. This glue is kinda like the factory one on the Neos.

I like the W968 since it's so good for my BH, the handle and headshape and everything just clicks for me. I'm very fussy about the handles, if they don't fit me my hand and elbow are just wondering around midswing.
G-1 is a "feels good" rubber with the blade and the H3 OS is kinda a "feels good" rubber now too.

Well no I don't. I still would probably prefer the blue sponge though. It has more stability for sure, but the orange version seems to be a lot more spinny. It's much easier to boost the blue sponge or its copies too.

I have said it before. Recently I have been on a tear trying different blades: 5-ply wood, 7-ply wood and various carbons. I am settling on more inner carbon/slower carbon blades. But to do the experiment, I had to pull out old H3 neo's and old ESN/Butterfly rubbers (like Rakza 7 soft, Rakza X soft, EL-S, FX-P, T05 fx, T64fx, etc.). The only constant is that the FH is always H3 neo (old and beat up) while the back side is a variation of ESN/Butterly rubber.

What I have found out is:

1) H3 neo ages really well. After sitting around on other blades, 6 months to 2 years after being opened from the original package, I would peel it off and put another two layers of Falco, the rubber is still tacky as heck and the sponge is now soft and somewhat springey. I like it better the second time boosting it! The tackiness seriously would not die!

2) I used to use G-1 on the backhand side of a wood blade and loved it. But now I switch to stiffer blade, I like softer ESN rubber now. For example, I like Rakza 7 soft, Andro R47 and T05 fx but I don't like MX-S, regular Rakza 7 and regular Rakza X. It is really weird. Oh well, that's just the way it is.

This is interesting, I remember a while ago reading a review of H3 rubbers, mainly a comparison between the provincial version which at the time at least was available in both the OS and the BS version. At that time the reviewer proposed that the OS would be preferable if boosting was wanted.

I think TT11 reviewed said either there is no difference or they prefer blue sponge version.

I personally have always used commercial orange sponge version. I don't foresee myself changing any time soon. In fact I might be due for a bulk order from TT11 coming up at some point. I am trying to settle on an ESN rubber for my backhand before buying that ESN rubber plus a few H3 neo, H3 skyline neo and regular H3 from TT11. With some of my older sheets, maybe H3 skyline neo is the spinnest. I need to test that out more.

Also someone said the the new H3 neo is less tacky and more matte looking (less shining). I hope that is not the case! I love the tackiness of hurricane so far.

Unfortunately I have to confirm that the current version of Neo is hardly tacky at all.
I just prepared a blade for a club mate with a good old fashioned commercial black H3 on the FH and a boosted red Neo on the BH. When i gripped the whole blade at the rubbers with thumb and index finger and then let go, the black still sticks and the red not at all.
But wait: The Neo is not sticky anymore but it still has plenty of grip.

Well, it sounds like my next shipment, I will have to mix all the different variation of H3 and see what I like the best. Oh well, they are just wanting us to spend more and more money!

By the way, I found Mercury II to be fairly tacky. I got two sheets, $5 each. I am experimenting it right now to see how is the bounce and the tackiness.

I hope so but i can not confirm that regular H3 has not also changed. My stock is about 2 years old now because I am now mainly using Rxton5.

As for Mercury II I only tried it once a few years ago and it was much too bouncy for me then. Still, for whoever can play with it , at that price, it is a little treasure.

That might not be a bug, but a feature. I wouldn't want the same tackiness on my BH as on FH. Most players use red H3 on BH side. I enjoy I less tacky H3s or less tacky Chinese rubbers on FH too.
I don't see what benefit the extra tack gives to be honest. Maybe in short game and FH flipping it has some benefit but it takes speed away, possibly even spin too.
