I tried both Pro 05 and Fang Bo B2 yesterday evening :
- Yinhe 05 : 90.2gr, 1336Hz. FH Arthur China, BH Volant Phoenix 2 37°. Full blade is 187gr.
- Fang Bo B2 : 92.2gr, 1301Hz. FH Big Dipper 38°, BH Moon 12 M-. Full Blade is 192gr.
I first tried the Fang Bo. The handle is the thinnest of all my blades, but it fits right in my hand. Maybe a little too thin, I feel that on big wrist torsion, it tears my joints more than the other handles (I have a little injury at the wrist because of golf, thus I feel more my wrist torsions/extensions currently). I found the setup a little bit too slow, especially on the backhand. But my backhand has always been with tensor (Gewo Nexxus), so I miss the little bounce on the small strokes. In FH, Big Dipper was okay, but I'll test with a boosted Arthur China on FH, and boosted Arthur Asia on the BH. This will be the real test, because the Yinhe 05 then put the bar very high...
Then I tried the Yinhe 05. What a feeling on the FH. I really love the Arthur China (which is my rubber of choice on my regular setup since May). The handle is way thicker than the DHS, or even any Stuor/Sanwei handles. Only the Loki Kirin/Rxton Blades have as big of an handle, but with a different shape (Viscaria like ? Not sure). My FH was incredible. The mariage between Arthur China and the 05 is perfect to me. It's forgiving if I just want to place the ball on the table, and it's powerful if I want to get fast. It's not as incredible for very big hits as my Yinhe Pro 01+Jupiter 3, with which I can produce big flat strokes consistently. But it's not my play style, and for most situation, Pro 01 is too fast for me to be confident during a real game.
On the backhand, the Volant Phoenix 2 (which was way less tacky than expected) has been a good surprise. The only chinese rubbers I tried on the BH were Jupiter 3 two weeks ago and I could not get used to the tackiness and the "unresponseness" compared to my tensor, and the Moon 12 just minutes ago. The setup was more responsive and faster, but still without the bounciness from which I take often benefit, and that made me put in the net some little strokes. The control was really great, I could block anything, anywhere, top spins were really spinny, but I think slower with my Long 5/Nexxus setup. I have to study more the setup to take a decision. At some point, I decided to switch side and use the Arthur China on the backhand. It was great but I played like that only 4 or 5 points, so no conclusion yet. But maybe having 2 Arthur China on that blade would be a solution.
A very funny fact is that my friends and I both had the impression that the Yinhe setup was heavier than the Fang Bo. That's crazy how the brain can be mislead by balance, handle thickness, or whatever else.
What other rubber might be relevant to test on BH ? I have Aurora Max boosted, Arthur China, Arthur Asia boosted, Big Dipper red 38°, Jupiter 3 boosted, AK47 (all color), Gewo Nexxus, H3 Neo 37° OS (not arrived yet, that I plan to boost right away), Double Fish QIJI, Loki GTX boosted (but I like it very much on the Pro 01).
