Ages ago I used to play with G888. But I have no idea what the difference between G666, G888, and H3 are.

G666 is the slowest rubber of the three, with very thin topsheet that makes it the highest throw angle rubber
G888 is a little faster than G666
H3 has thicker topsheet, more speed, little less throw angle

Cool. So what is the property that made H3 so popular among Chinese pros? Why doesn't anybody want to use boosted G888?

it's the topend power. Amateurs can be happy with the spin and speed capabilities of the G888 but for higher level players, they hit harder and need a rubber with more power potential

Dang, those pips are really bulging. It surprised this is actually so slow. I've seen the G series many times but never thought to buy one. I even read that the G555 was designed for backhand use.
But not gonna lie that G666 looks very high quality. Maybe this is good for people who wanna develop how to hit with "own" power instead of relying on tricks like bubbly sponge and booster etc.

After playing with LAC a little bit here and there i can see why and how people like it.


Its got good Spin but not super Great Spin like H3.
I found not too fast, just like normal Chinese rubber.
Control obviously Great.
Arc almost like H3, a little bit higher i thought.
Pretty similar to my experience with H3 BS
And for the price pretty good Performance.

But maybe i am biased because of my Main combination.

Back to DHS:


Dynasty Carbon with Nittaku H3 Turbo blue.
That thing is a monster.
I can send unreturnable rockets.
The Spin is unmatched.
Throw Angle really low.
Very hard and really powerful.
I can Block every thing, I can even chop topspin.

A little heavy but not too much.

DHS Chinese Greatness +
Nittaku Japanese Greatness+
Xu Xins swedish blade

Probably my Main setup forever.

If I dont stumble upon a W968 with Ma long H3 my opinion will unlikely change.

The Nittaku H3 Turbo Blue would be great if it wouldn't weigh 65g cut... With that high weight, it's only suitable if someone uses pips on BH or is a gorilla. There are a few gorillas on the forum tho...

I had a 37 deg national red, that was fine without boosting, but not sure if commercial or provincial would be OK too.
I guess the national rubbers are treated/boosted at DHS a bit differently. They are pretty bouncy out of the pack.

If you're currently using H8-80 on your BH than boosting the H3 37 helps to get more speed on low power shots and even more top end spin. How many layers? Depends on the booster and your playing style. H3 37 with say three or four layers Seamoon is a great backhand rubber but only if I don't block If you're going to boost then commercial or provincial are fine but I haven't played with unboosted H3 in the last couple of years...

I am playing with H8 80 38 on BH and I have everything i need with it most of the time.
I wanna try something more tensor like on a different blade.
My goal on Backhand is to play 50% like Fan Zhendong.
Once I get there the other 50% will follow.
I didnt get the Chance to play with Dignics 09c yet but I dont think i need it.
And it costs as much as my 2 rubber combined right now.

I have a sheet of G888 from TT11. It is very very tacky. I put it on my defensive blade with long pips on the backside.

I really do think H3 (and H3 neo) has some catapult property. Now that I have tried Big Dipper 38 degree and 40 degree, CJ8000, AK47 Blue, Rxton 1 special edition, Rxton 3 blue, I can say H3 or H3 neo has some catapult effect. I am now addicted to 39 degree H3 (or TG2 neo or TG3 neo). I really cannot use any other rubber on my forehand.

They allow me to really go for my shot without hesitation

Welcome to the club! What rubber were you using on your forehand?

I am used to 39 degree DHS 3 neo. The sponge is really not that hard. I think DHS degree is different than ESN degree. But I have tried a couple 50 degree ESN rubbers and I don't like it. They are too hard for me.

With H3 neo or TG3 now, I can decide if I want to hit/loop through the ball or do a light brush on the ball. I have a choice. It is especially true on doubles where the other party serves as short as possible while I use my forehand to return the shot. Sometimes it may just drop off the edge of the table and I will literally pick the ball up from below the table with a light brush, and the ball still went back over with some spins.

With ESN or Butterfly rubber, I don't know if you can do anything without engaging the sponge. I do play with Rakza 7 soft on the BH side. I mean, a tiny touch of the ball, and the ball is flying off somewhere. I am not complaining about that on my BH side. But no, for my FH, I trust my hurricane 100%. No more experimentation on my FH side with other rubbers anymore.

Try a nicely boosted H3 37 on your BH for some months or watch Liang Jingkun and you want this "stability and reliability and confidence" on your BH too I've too played with tensor rubbers on my backhand and won't look back. What comes close to a boosted H3 on FH is currently imo a boosted 729 Battle 3.
On BH I like for some reason the only slightly tacky and less grippy 729 Dragon L (not the Dragon F that plays more like a hybrid rubber) but I haven't tested that much this year (revisited Neottec X5-S and H8-80 and tried Dragon F, Dragon L, B3 and Glayzer 09C but I'm tempted to try the Hybrid MK).

H8-80 is less tacky than H3 37. Spin H3 37 > H8-80 37. Weight: H8-80 > H3 37 in most cases, I had one H8-80 37 weighing only 44g cut...

The softer EL Pro 52 is just another hybrid albeit one that I quite liked but it is not a rubber "I can decide if I want to hit/loop through the ball or do a light brush on the ball. I have a choice." like JJ Ng said or as I would say: (hybrid) rubbers like the Codexx prefer a certain kind of stroke (one must use topsheet and sponge) to get good quality. H3 and the like can be played that way too and they work well that way but they allow more variation on top.

Lol, I have a sheet of Gewo Nexxus EL Pro 43 ready for my BH. Will install that tomorrow once the forehand Hurricane is done boosted with two layers of boosters. I had a shipment of several Gambler Blackout blades that just arrived so I can truly test these ESN rubbers properly on my BH side. Do NOT tempt me with Gewo Codexx 54!!!

Bought used DHS Hurricane Hao 656, which turned out to be fake one. Eh, either way tested it for 2 days and it feels ok. 5 layers of wood, much control, has flex compared to Viscaria.

FH: H3 40 comm
BH: H8-80 37

2 thin layers of booster. Not enough for sure for FH rubber, need either 2 thicker layers or 3 thin ones. Booster is Haifu Seamoon. Either way, if my shots are technique wise correct, this setup is very good.

Since about 2 weeks I play with the Double Fish Volant Phoenix H40 on the FH, and it has everything I need. I've found my holy grail.

Man finally this rubber got some love from the forum, I'm also playing a 39deg black on my FH and love it. Price is cheaper than H3, Battle 2 while having almost the same performance
