The mixed team format is quite entertaining. But I would like to see a team made up of a diverse abilities.

Let's say, every 10 WR forms a tier. So WR1-10 is tier 1. WR 91-100 is tier 10 and so on.
In each team, no two men come from the same tier. So China will have to find men from tier 1, 2, 3 and 4.

JPN vs SVK
Miwa's brother/Hayata 3-0 Wang Yang/Kukulkova (5, 5, 9)
Kihara 2-1 Balazova (-5, 3, 5)
Togami 2-1 Zelinka (7, -10, 7)
Sone/Togami 1-0 Arpas/Zelinka (6)

Miwa's brother/Hayata playing again after TPE and in Stage 1 AUS.
Kihara recovered well after G1, considering it was her first WS match (and only 1 WD match in Stage 1). The experience at WTTC 2022 helped here.

CHN 6-0 FRA
FZD 2-1 F. Lebrun
117
911
99, 109, 1011, 1311

Lebrun did well to take 1 game and even had 1 match point under that condition.

Are Togami and Harimoto so good vs chop that Slovakia didn't even bother trying Wang lol?
That's the problem when your no 1 is a chopper
opponents would be expecting it is going to be chop
so the only surprise they can do is not to go with chop
and then where do you use that chopper in the doubles?

you raise a good point
I was just thinking about this today.

China just fills all 8 players with Top 5 players, so there is no chance for anyone else.
If it was only say 2 mens and 2 womens, then I think Japan, Korea, France, Taiwan etc would have a chance to get close, but the more depth you are making it, the strong China becomes and the gap widens dramatically

I don't think the tier system could be fair for all, as that is targeting China only.
so the idea I had was, only 1 player per gender from wr 1~10 and from 11~20, and 1 from 21~30 etc.
This way, China's main players, can't all play, and then we all testing depth

Just curious how will two choppers fair in Doubles? One lefty, the other righty; both choppy!
Korea womens used to have them.
both right handers.

Korea probably have been producing the most high level choppers in the past 20 years

FZD vs Lebrun Felix

It is always amazing to watch FZD when he enters into the BEAST MODE. I yearn to see him in that stage. It has been some time FZD hasn't enter into the BEAST MODE stage.

Participating countries like HK, India, USA, Slovakia, Canada and Australia don’t currently have players in the top 20.

Only really Australia (Oceania) and Egypt (Africa) could take advantage by being big fish in weak continents having inflated WR position(s) relative to actual playing strength.

And should it be by world ranking?

This discriminates against less wealthy associations that can’t afford to send athletes to WTT events to receive ranking points to qualify.

Or how about those local based South American players that need to travel to Asia/Europe where all the major titles seem to be held these days?

For every 1 Hugo/Iizuka/Takahashi there are many more that fail due to lack of opportunities or funding afforded.

A promotion or relegation framework like in the English Premier League might work better - which is basically what this Mixed Teams format has become with Stage 1 & Stage 2.

You can get your final to determine the champion and also added intrigue with the top performing Tier B’s having the opportunity to play off against the worst performing Tier A with something tangible at stake.

Even in this mode, his superiority did not look so clear

SEAMLESS BALLS ARE BACK IN PLAY.
Interesting to note, seamless ABS balls're adopted for a Major ITTF event for the first tlme ever.
The product never seen on general market before.

Controversy regarding WCQ's serve. Alexis stops the point. Umpire calls let. Alexis says "Service is here" and shows the ball contacted behind the head. The umpire, who I don't think understands English that well, says "WCQ behind the end line". You can hear Alexis argue with China's coach saying "same every time". Then, the umpire gives the point to China after he already called let! I looked at the replay several times in slow motion, and although the camera's viewpoint is not the player's viewpoint, I don't think it's possible to see the point of contact which is hidden behind WCQ's head and shoulder:
