I think this is innovation partly inspired by the Indian League which may have predecessors I am unaware of (since the Indian league has had this format for years apart from the Golden Game, I think it is fair to give them the credit). I think it might actually become an Olympic event if there is a desire for more TT.Yeah really digging it. After watching this and a few of the MLTT games, I gotta say the team format is a lot more entertaining as a whole than the standard singles and doubles. Wish we got more events like this and more players made it a priority to attend.
its really an experiment and i think not many are happy about it....neither the players nor the viewersJust realised that stage 2 is the end. There will be no finals/semifinals. Whoever wins the most points at the end of stage 2 will be crowded champion. I get that they want to allow as many matches as possible to let the teams experiment, but at least give us a good final.
the whole thing will likely be made better in year 2its really an experiment and i think not many are happy about it....neither the players nor the viewers

She definitely has a different gear when she's behind or when the pressure is on. She's like a fighter that doesn't really get going until taking a few big punches.Out of all the competed JPN player in this mixed team, Hayata's state seemed to be the worst, but this is also a great chance for her to exercise entering the zone quicker
another one here thinks equipment makes champions lolUNFAIR PLAY BY CHINA and HOW CAN WE RESPOND TO SUCH.
No one can yet challenge China total dominance in the sport so far. The situation is mostly comes from the unfair distribution of China-made playing materials. Not all China rubbers are now commercially available, and, moreover, some rubbers are known to be factory boosted in defiance to the ITTF official regulations M4.
Yes, we now worked out a practical measure to resolve the issue once and for all, eg. Identity Markings on each sponge sheet as comes from factory source.
Thus could we ensure fair play for all players involved in table tennis competitions, both domestically or internationally.
imo, Harimoto did worse in that doubles match, his slow footwork and bad forehand guaranteed a 2v1 situation. With that said Togami's forehand was underwhelming as well, too many over-hit shot. That good-for-nothing Togami. Absolutely useless when you need him after WTTC 2022.
There are the Olympics, WTTC, and Team World Cup (or World Team Cup as it was called) for that.I think they should change the rules for this mixed team format. Once a team pulls ahead, it just makes any comeback feel impossible.
If you have 1 weak link that loses 0-3, it means the following team members need to play virtually perfect just to climb back.
They arguably should play all the matches and let some teams win 15-0 lol. There are the Olympics, WTTC, and Team World Cup (or World Team Cup as it was called) for that.
The whole point of this tournament is not about any particular match. It's a marathon. Sweden is going to lose no matter what at the start of the match. Their goal is to lose with the least amount of game-deficit. Losing 5-8 in M5 (2-7 after M3) means they "have won" because JPN and KOR are now 24 and 7 in Stage 2.
I was hoping Sone would play against Slovakia tonight but at with this JPN will have to send their main force again to get the maximum W before fighting Korea tmwJPN and KOR are now 24 and 7 in Stage 2.
Harimoto actually played well in G1 and forced a TO from Sweden (2:6 to 5:6 and 6:6 after TO). Togami was the one dropping the crucial points and blew the lead (8:7), which in turn forced Harimoto to take risks (8:8 to 8:10). They needed just that 1 game.imo, Harimoto did worse in that doubles match, his slow footwork and bad forehand guaranteed a 2v1 situation. But Sweden in both their XD and MD done well in short touches to make sure Togami can't bring his forehand into play, most of the offensive had to be done on the Harimoto siblings turn
