In this edition of the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup, teams will consist of 3 or 4 men’s and women’s players each, creating a dynamic blend of talents at the table. The order of play adds a unique twist to the competition:

Mixed Doubles
Women’s Singles (with players not participating in mixed doubles)
Men’s Singles (with players not participating in mixed doubles)
Women’s Doubles/Men’s Doubles (if needed)
Men’s Doubles/Women’s Doubles (if needed)

The order of play for the last two matches will be determined before the match by the team captain of the lower-ranked team, adding a strategic and suspenseful element to each encounter. Each individual match within a team match shall consist of 3 games (resulting in a 3-0 or 2-1 score), and team matches will be played until one team accumulates 8 games to secure victory.

I understand that Japan saying they can only find two female players sound suspect/fake; are they really saying the Juniors prefer playing the WYC to a Team World Cup??
There's no need for the instant revenge, let the players play in Japan, I thought they were meant to serve a bigger purpose?! It's giving immature and seeing yourself on Japan's level.

They probably had a deal. CTTA lets their current/former players take part in the T. League (a rare occurrence) and JTTA is expected to return the favor. Even DTTB sent a team to WTTC 2022. JTTA, which has been reduced to a lame duck after WTTC 2015, is asking for trouble here.

Miyazaki is now taking the heat and has to apologize for causing trouble to T.League, which has only started turning a profit the last two seasons (US$4.4m in the red for the inaugural 2018-2019 season).

見解2017年、それまで参戦できていた中国超級リーグから外国人選手が締め出されることがありました。
日本人選手が中国代表を脅かす存在になりつつあったため排除したのです。

昔から元中国代表選手が海外リーグでプレーすることを、中国卓球協会がほとんど許可しなかったために、年に数人しか海外リーグでプレーしていませんでした。
しかし今シーズンからTリーグで多くの代表経験者がプレーすることになりました。中国側からすればTリーグを盛り上げるために協力してあげている、日本選手のレベルアップのために特別に派遣している認識でしょう。

そんな中、今年の目玉であり中国成都市で行われる混合団体ワールドカップに不参加を表明した日本を、恩を仇で返してきたという風に捉え、報復措置にでたと思われます。

I think incentivizing the players with ranking points is a reasonable approach. They need to be judicious in allocating points and not go hog wild like they did in the past. I remember a while back, FTW would collect a crazy number of points (something on the order of winning gold at the WC or Olympics) beating weaker players on weak teams.

FTW gain a lot of points because she will win 2 matches every time, because some other Singaporean will loose
But China always wins 3-0, meaning, the CNT players only played once. FTW gained more points (double) than the Chinese.
Of course, you know who didn't like that.

補足 事の発端となったITTF(国際卓球連盟)混合団体ワールドカップの個人成績に世界ランキングを付けるということがITTF理事会で承認されました。

突如話しが変わるということは卓球界にはよくある話です。東京オリンピック前にも、ツアー上位者だけが出場できるT2ダイヤモンドという大会が急遽作られ、直前で延期になり、結局大会自体がなくなるという、世界ランキングを計算してそこに標準を合わせていた私もかなり痛い目を見ました。

エントリーの締め切りは過ぎていますが、世界ランキングが付与されることによってフルメンバーでITTF混合団体ワールドカップに日本が出場するということがこの後起きるかもしれません。
日本が出場すれば中国側もTリーグから選手を引き上げる理由はありませんからね。
良い意味では柔軟、悪い意味では適当、それが今の卓球界なのかもしれません。
