I tried DNA Platinum H 5 times ~2 years ago just after I finished with MX-D (which I played for a little bit more than a year). So my impressions are not really fresh. Can anyone compare Tibhar MX-D to Stiga DNA Hybrid M or H (or Platinum M or H)?
I've been using it for a couple of weeks now on my forehand to try it out. Was using Tibhar MK before that and the Sanwei Gear Hyper before before that. I'm mainly a blocker and flat hitter - all three rubbers suit me very well without being too bouncy to play with. With the DNA Hybrid M though, it does feel like I can block almost every shot a bit more dangerously than with the Gear Hyper. I can also place the ball with touch shots pretty nicely with this. Note, this is on a Fang Bo B2X. I should really write a full review of it. Will give it a bit more time though as I also want to review the Genextion and the Vega Pro H!I wasn't too impressed with the Stiga Hybrid M. So I added a layer of booster, but it still doesn't feel very good.
The rebound seems too low, and it seems like the ball is falling into the net too often.
More on topic, the MX-D has quite a bit of kick to it. I have it on my backhand and it's feeling too bouncy for me. When I get the shots in, it's lovely. More often than not though, I'm overshooting in competitive play since I was previously using the H8-80. It's very spinny and I've also tried it on the forehand where it did well though I prefer the reduced bounciness of the DNA Hybrid M since I value placement over power (unless something pops up to attack of course!). For me, I'd prefer a softer sponge on my backhand. Can anyone compare Tibhar MX-D to Stiga DNA Hybrid M or H (or Platinum M or H)?
The evolutions series from Tibhar, MX-D included, are known to be very bouncy and catapulty.More on topic, the MX-D has quite a bit of kick to it. Having said all that, I just played more today and backhand rallies were quite comfortable so, erm, I guess I might be more used to it now? My comments above also relate to me trying to do backhand flicks with it and being unsuccessful.
Chops can go quite low, almost skimming the net too.
I'd probably want to go back to the H8-80 at some point or get the soft sponged Gear Hyper (or just try the Hybrid M on the backhand)
Yes - very true - I initially bought it as I'm not immune from EJing (Which is a massive reason why I went into reselling and setting up equipment for others - almost everyone lets me try their setup since I'm the one who did itThe evolutions series from Tibhar, MX-D included, are known to be very bouncy and catapulty.
