WS draws out. Not a great draw for Odo. First round is okay. She has Samara in R32 who I think she has a decent chance of beating. But R16 will likely be Hina Hayata. I was hoping she could get to a QF, but that seems unlikely now.

Kihara turns out to be the "2nd seed" now, with a rather clear path to the SF.

sadly that part is true.
I saw it with my own eyes

the pressure that pros deals with, is impossible for the masses to understand.

having last seen CHT in person - around 1 month ago (before she went out on tour), Cheng is very fit and looking good. Troubles seem to be, behind her now.

But getting the 3rd spot for OG teams... is going to be very tough.
Without much time left....there is 4 players in front of her.
Lol, sometimes I wonder if you follow any other sports. Some of the stuff you make a big deal out of in TT is minor at best in other sports. I mean, she ate too much and got zits! Oh the sacrifice! I do that too and I'm an amateur :ROFLMAO: In comparison, Tim Tebow scored a 25 yard game winning touchdown run on a broken fibula, in high school.

I guess you don't see the mental side of things in your happy world

maybe next time, you would take into consideration that eating was Cheng's solution to challenges and if that is laughable, then you are extremely disgusting

Mental side of things is in every profession. My issue isn't with Chen's struggles, it's with your struggle to understand that her struggle is not unique to her nor to professional athletes in general. Only someone living in his own happy little world can think that her struggles are something that's "impossible for the masses to understand". No, it's something that the "masses" struggle with as well, and it's disrespectful to dismiss the struggles of those of us who are not professional athletes.

Stories like Simone Biles' are meant to show us that professional athletes are humans too, that they share the same struggles that we the "masses" do. Yet you're turning it around as an example that their struggles are unique, so much so that it's impossible for the masses to understand. I mean, seriously, you think those of us on this board can't understand what stress eating is? That's what I'm laughing at.

As I said before, your are delusional and assume things of me that are not correct.
When did I say it is unique to table tennis? And last I checked, we are on a table tennis forum, not general sport forum. Are you bored?

someone talked about Cheng's challenges, of which I confirmed, and that is all. It's a simple point but then fancy you coming and stiring nonsense again? I becoming to think you have a fetish for this kind of behavior. When Lily's news broke, why don't you do the same nonsense?

I don't need to talk about other sports if I don't want to and I just did to show you that I do know some things here and there. But for your naiveness, I do spent a lot of hours a week working in table tennis. My username is table tennis too.

So what sport do you want me to talk about? you are really bored and it is obvious you are trolling and replying with the motive of arguments, hence you are on the troll list. So if I don’t reply, it is because your posted aren’t visible.

Miwa's brother and Hayata have to focus on XD here, so it's understandable. The circumstance is not encouraging due to the (mis-)management/calculation of the selection race.

Samara doesn't know what hit her. Odo just rolled right through her the 1st 2 games. Samara then overpowered her for the 1st half of game 3 going up 6-0, but Odo is both resilient and intelligent. With great placement, she tests Samara's footwork. BH flips both of Samara's serves. Fools Samara with her own kick shovel serve at 9-9. Just a great display of TT over a very experienced player.

People talk about Timo Boll, but CCY is insane for his age and just defended four match points against Harimoto and won the fourth game in deuce. Final game about to start. The man better get huge credit when he retires.

Agreed. CCY is always a tough competitor.

WS R32
Li Yu-Jhun 1-3 Hirano

As with the match against Lee Ho Ching at WTTC 2024, Li was actually neck-and-neck in the rallies, but what set them apart was the crucial points, where Hirano won the majority, if not all of them. Wang Rui/Nakazawa Rui coaching instead of Zhang Cheng showed the significance of this match.

With DHK and LYJ out of the way, only Lily remains...
