Dignics 05 alternatives

I used D05 for a while but I didn’t want to keep paying Dignics prices. Currently my favorite alternative is Victas V>22 Double Extra, the feeling style is very similar and it’s about half the price depending on where you buy it. Maybe a touch less spin but I have no problem performing all of my shots and the topspin to topspin feeling is great.

For something more left field, try a Loki Telson 100. Dignics level speed and T05 level spin. It's a Chinese rubber but has a soft, non-tacky Japanese top sheet to it, and it's also brand new -- only been available for about 3-6 months.

On the negative side, if you use a stiff / hard carbon blade then It's got a crazy low throw angle and only two speeds: slow push and Warp One.

On the plus side, if you mount it on an All-Round all wood blade it's far more manageable and has genuine T05 level performance or better, (a bit Hammond Z2-ish in some of its characteristics.) the short game control is excellent, and best of all at about $40 Australian a sheet, it is an absolute, honest to goodness Tenergy killer, and hands down the best value for money rubber on the planet right now.

It's a bit of an acquired taste with that low throw angle, but performance wise it's an absolute killer. At literally one third the price of Dignics or a T05 it's definitely worth a trial purchase if nothing else.

Fair enough 🙂 Maybe not the Telson then.

It's a really great rubber, but in my experience you need an ALL+ to OFF- all-wood blade with softer outers and a tiny bit of flex to it, in order to access its mid-range gears when opening up or slow-looping.

These more traditional blades makes both the T100's throw angle & trajectory a bit more amateur-friendly, a bit less rifle-like, and you end up with a brilliant T05 alternative on the BH.

With stiffer and harder blades, the T100 is really a fast, flat-throwing FH rubber in disguise, and is unmanageable.
on BH.

Only other rubber I can think of that *might* fit your brief (depending on your game & touch) is a Donic Bluestorm Z1 Turbo. Only tried one out for the first time a few weeks back, and with max sponge it's another genuine rocket launcher with Dignics/T05 level spin -- similar in speed & spin to the T100, but with a more manageable trajectory.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the Bluestorm's sponge, as it provides very little feedback to my hand during impact (feels a bit like I'm playing with a fluffy hyperactive cloud). That said, I've only ever tried it in Max. Depending on the blade, I can conceive of a 2.0mm or 1.8mm version on a harder blade feeling a bit more 'grounded' and being a potentially viable high performance option for BH.
