You can try. If you want a bit softer sponge, the 729 blue sponge is softer and way less elastic so if that is what you're looking for then B2 nat is better for you. Otherwise skip.
How is B2 Gold different from B3?
I have only tried B2 Blue Sponge provincial, but how is B2 Gold? I find B2 Blue sponge has a bit low throw angle, but the dwell and grip is great. Speed is just medium
B3 has harder topsheet, it does more work, it's more elastic. If you like the rubber to work for you then B3 is a good choice. But you will need to use more power too, it takes more effort to stretch that topsheet. Which is why I think it works better on inner blades. I feel outer blades ping off too fast. If you can hit it very hard then it works well but chances are you can't always hit hard enough.
B2 gold is pretty fast but also has that H3N BS-like lazyness. Like you can really wind up the ball in the topsheet and the sponge. Just easier to get the ball into the rubber and sponge and you have a bit more contact time.
Is B2 gold spinnier than B3 ?
If you hit it with great power I think so. Not by much and maybe the extra force and space you need to make such a powerful shot doesn't pay off in a match.
B2 gold is more friendly to use and I don't see a big detriment to it. Also dirt cheap so... With 11.11 coming maybe there will be some bargains. One can just order 5 sheets or something lol.
Not sure I fully understand 729. The gold edition comes in a vacuum pack but it doesn't seem to be boosted or if it is it's just barely. No glue layer either. B2 nat, B2 prov blue, B2 prov orange etc etc come in normal plastic pack. B3 also in just normal plastic pack. Don't get it but whatever.
