The order is wrong. A self-media first said he was gambling, and Zhang Jike directly sent a lawyer's letter to silence the self-media, then Li Wei'ao [a journalist] jumped out to expose him, and then Zhang Jike did not back down and started another lawyer's letter. Unexpectedly, Li Wei'ao really took out Zhang Jike's gambling IOU and exposed his other scandals on WeChat public account. The article on WeChat public account is still there.

It's the same in Japan. Newspapers often quote insider info. Like for Mizutani, he has had his share of scandals exposed that way over the years but that hasn't stopped him from attracting sponsorships. He even made his yearly earning public on TV after Rio 2016, proving the insider info/estimation for top players at the time. Yoshimura M. is not as lucky with his own scandal but he's living a comfortable life. In East Asian cultures, there is this thing called 功過相抵/merits offset faults. If your merits are significant enough, people would not just turn a blind eye, but completely ignore your faults.

With ZJK onboard, I don't think sales of Donic will accelerate much.
Blades, DHS and Butterfly own the market.
would a Donic ZJK blade drive sales? I doubt... maybe if they went for a current player, the business may be better.
End of the day, the blade needs to be of quality too. A lot of the fanboys don't even play table tennis.... maybe Donic ZJK shirts can boom in sales for them.

Rubbers wise... ESN doesn't work in China with DHS and Butterfly again, owning the market.
I didn't see Stiga Xu Xin owning the rubber market for example, or any of the other CNT players.
Stiga blades does have reputation in China, so the XX blade did pretty well.

So, interesting strategy by Donic imo

I think Gewo was very lucky
Aruna benefited with 40+ and timing was good
Joola before him, sales was probably terrible.

But then, they also didn't have color rubbers and Joola was still run by the previous regime (the newer crew is way better - yes, talking about you @Matt Hetherington)

Aruna was actually not in the radar for most of his 20s.
40+ change, especially from Rio OG, he started to become a bit more famous (just so you know, he was 28 at rio og)

True but it’s rather the rubbers. Bluestar and Bluegrip are not as similar to D09c as K3 and there’s nothing which is like T19. Obviously, he’d be able to adapt overtime but that would hurt his career. They can go with the Gewo and Jaehyun method but that wouldn’t attract any new customers
