My Taiwan Cypress blades

Most likely, that's why Jpens are usually one sided. Why not go all in then, with the most diabolical blade ever, 2cm thick (20mm) full on Jpen monster, make the handle extremely light too for sledgehammer power. Place Bluefire M1 or Tenergy 05, speed demon

Or, 3 plies: one Taiwan cypress, one ZLC, one Taiwan cypress. Place the carbon extremely close to the surface of the forehand side of the racket, and the rest of the 20mm is cypress. Place that with the two rubbers mentioned above (boosted and with speed glue) one smash is all it takes
And we need ryu seung min to use it for his next world cup.

Nah but imagine that warhammer? Make one of the devils I come up with and nuke every single high ball (break some too HHAHAHAHAHAH)

Review it for me and sell, not as a usual blade, but more as a trophy i guess

heh, it is cool for sure

btw how's your Jpen journey? I used to play Jpen myself, so if you need help you can message me
Nice! Since I started playing at 7, I have used jpen. Started with my dad's old Senkoh 1, with ancient sriver.

I find slight trouble with consistency of my backhand topspin. Is there a certain wrist movement to help. My wrist is usually kept quite loose tho, to allow tpb Chiquita, which I find I'm quite ok at.

But when it's any deeper to backhand I struggle to hit the table, either overshooting or into the net.

Taiwan and japan hinoki are both soft wood , not really recommended under 8.5mm
Thank you for your answer. Do you design and make custom handles? My kids would love to have beautiful made blades and they are in love with panda so I am wondering if the handle can be customized. I have been trying to get them into table tennis for 3 years already so I am still trying.

Oh then you've played longer than I did ehe, but I do have a few tips, like using your legs as a base for bh topspin (stated by RSM). For wrist movement, there isn't any specific ones, just relax it.

Since you're a Jpen, you naturally struggle at the backhand motion, I suggest you focus on your footwork and shoto (backhand punch) instead of the bh drive. For the shoto, you can take the ball early and just punch it. Not much wrist is needed in this stroke, just punch it! Jpen players use their backhand only if they MUST. Chop blocks and punches work very well for TPB.

Like I said, shoto it.

For the LP in your RPB side, just use it like shoto and deceive! One shot use TPB and give a bit of topspin with your punch, then switch and chop.

Yeah as jpen, i am forehand dominant, but my friends have figured it out and have been hitting quite a bit to my deep backhand. I did try step around forehand a few times but not very reliable.

About playing for how long I think you must have been playing before I was born! I'm only 14 this year

Oh wow, I'm 14 too! 15 this year (started at 13 btw)

For the problem, just always drill with the focus on footwork. When they hit into your backhand, be variable with your shoto, like chop blocking (Ma Lin for reference) or punching (Ryu Seung Min for reference). Just whenever you use your backhand, use it in a way to either:

A. Win the point
B. Setup the forehand

If you want to talk some more, like equipment and such, PM me (@henry lam looks to have fire blades, you can buy from them for sure! They even create custom blades)
I may have to try getting better footwork, but as a 1.74 player at my age I may get around it
Damn you're tall, last I checked I was 1.73 (Sep-Oct 2024)

Thanks for the advice on the backhand, currently practicing at my local Community club with my fellow lefties penhold buddy. Been doing the drills. I was looking at the old Kim taek soo videos and tried to replicate the topspin blocks. I do do chop blocks but not often, as it spoils the surprise, even by using it for the uncommon backhand.

Yeah these blades look good to me, and especially those thick thick jpens, the forehand. Plus, as user of hinoki blade, I can tell you their feel is incredible.
