Yeah - lots of countries with not so strong players. It's all relative, some countries would say that about the US lol...
While he is going to kose, he probably made the same point to himself that I made in the other thread. The rating is not playing the match.

Of course, he also probably isn't going to go back home and start changing his game or training specifically to beat Nandan Naresh. I think our points run parallel to each other though.

Good start for Ivy with a convincing 4-0 win over Xu and good start for Team Canada. Let’s keep that momentum going!
Ivy has no chance against Bruna next round but that is ok - it will be up to Zhang Mo to try to take down Bruna on the way to the championships, I have those two as the WS favorites.

I really had no expectations anyways for Ivy the minute the draw came out but just hoped she can win her first match. I personally have Lily to win the whole thing, though I wouldn’t mind a Mo Zhang masterclass at all!

Iizuka was hitting monstrous backhands on Kanak. Good match so far
2-1 lead for Iizuka. Iizuka having no trouble with Kanak's serve as expected. Typical slow start from Kanak as it's his first match of the tournament, but he should probably start taking over in Game 4.

You were saying?
I was laughing at the implication that Kanak's service game is what Iizuka's chances would hinge on, or that he's better in the rally. He's winning thus far by dominating the serve receive game and blasting at 100% and hitting all of them.

Not just mental strength, he has come back down to earth the last few games and will need to adjust accordingly. Definitely credit to his insane play particularly in the first 4 games.
Yes his ability to adjust is important too. Let’s see, jha still leads

Game 5, but, @pongfugrasshopper, I was saying?

Credit to Iizuka for making it a close match. Typical sloppy first match for Kanak but also typical comeback when it matters.

Credit Iizuka for making it tough for Kanak in a final-worthy match. Almost had the decider comeback but unlucky at the end. Him and Calderano will be a force for brazil for years to come
