I played 5min with it today. I wouldn't be able to tell you any difference between my long 5 and this blade. But then again the rubbers are not glued that well. Also a soft feeling from the get go. With my long 5 the first few Sessions with a new d09c sheet the setup feels harder and a louder Sound.
How is prott so bad at gluing and cutting the rubber.

Tomorrow I will be able to test for 2h atleast. Lets see. What I can tell afterwards
For that money he really should use a mechanical press to cut the rubbers, that gives you a factory like job and (as a seller) would create a far better impression for customers.
I've read the thread not knowing anything about DHS blades and I can see why you are skeptical.
Here's to hoping that your new blade becomes the one for you and you have many great years playing it because that is an awesome present from your brother!!
And belated Happy Birthday!! 😁

my brother was quite upset. He was like: "I asked him if he can glue it well otherwise he will do it himself" and since he said "sure only laquering?" and he said "yes" and thought he has access to better equipment to do the job. He was like I could have done much much better. TBH we both got really "clean" with gluing and cutting. We also saw how tabletennis11 did a really good job of cutting and gluing (back when I bought my Long5 there and my brother bought nittaku acc carbon) so he prob thought its gonna be good again. Well lesson learned.

Well it´s already a "good" sign that it played very similiar during the warmup strokes (drive and push). Excited to give it a good test today! Def plan to use it in my last match next week!

Thank you for the birthday wishes! Yeah I agree!

I do think you need to be aware of the W968 and how it plays in order to manage expectations - especially the player edition. In all honesty, I love the feel of mine and I enjoy playing with it, but my coach has advised that it is just too much blade for me right now - too fast and too much reactivity. I switched to a Donic Waldner sons carbon - a much slower blade, with the same rubbers and the difference in my consistency is night and day. I lose some power and speed but land more balls on the table.

My point is that to get the most out of a W968 of any type requires a decent amount of skill.

could it be that the shop deliberately let quite some milimeters of the rubber protrude over the blade to have some cushion on table hits or to have the rubber be bigger in case you want to reglue it after boosting ?
I wouldn´t have minded if thats the only thing. Its just that whoever did it didnt cut in one single line. He cut it with the scissors started again cut stop cut stop. So you can see the sciczor line basically. Which is lowkey not that important I put an edge tape over anyway. What bothers me more is I can see the glue lines are not evenly distributed (I can see finger width glue lines vertically) but only visually. Not big enough having to reglue though I think. Just leaves a bad taste

how do I know if my HL5 is the new one or old one? I have a red box with young ML (preparing FH stroke) + red card inside.

The old one typically ends with "E" on the handle with the young ML (very short hair) in the lens. The old HL5 has big Chinese characters printed on the blade where you glue your rubbers. New HL5 has no characters printed.

if anyone has specific question they would like to know about the blade/setup. Feel free to ask me but be specific. I can then give my opinion and try my best to answer. I also consider filming myself to see if I somewhat change my technique subconsiously to adjust to the setup but not quite sure how I should do it since I don't want to make a 30min long video any ideas?

Will see about that only played 5min with it so far. Tbh film material will always look slower than in real life. Just curious which setup would you think would be better?
Softer but somewhat reactive blade with medium bouncy/gripping rubbers. Maybe something like a Harimoto ALC/ZLC with D05 or Nittaku Acoustic Carbon with G1

if that is the case and you got some free time, do yourself the favour and reglue it. No point in wondering what effect it might or might not have.

When my trainer told me that she felt a spot on the blade where there was not enough glue i have reglued the rubber on the next day just to be sure and indeed i found the amount of glue to be a little too little for my taste.

Thats why I like gluing myself. I know which glue is used how many sheets, how evenly distributed, how long till you fix the rubber...

I also suck at removing the previous glue from the rubber since the rubber is also new... When I get home I will have a look at it again. I had put some books on the blade but didnt check after if it got any better

To remove glue from a new rubber usually is easier than removing it from a rubber that already had glue on it.
If you struggle to remove the glue just put another layer of glue on the rubber, wait until dry and then remove it.

Both Setups weight exactly 195g lol.

Also herr my long5 in comparison rubbers been used for 3months exactly.

Not a single bump or anything glued it smoothly.
