Franziska 4-3 Moregard (10, -8, 8, 6, -10, -4, 11)

Harimoto's comment on Moregard readily losing to inferior players is reinforced in today's match.
Pot calling the kettle black. But these are actually teammates and they played to seven games in Houston as well. It would be difficult to call someone who has beaten all the top Chinese legends someone that Moregardh should never lose to.

Tell that to Harimoto, whose opinion is supported by the stats, which you've failed to counter thus far. Care to post Harimoto's H2H versus Franziska?

Waldner used to lose to "inferior" players too. Tell that to the stats. And since Harimoto still does it, he can join your friend Sora with his wisdom and bright sayings on his playing level.

In the article, Moregard doesn't actually refer to Franziska by name. Just says that he can often lose to lesser players.

That time wasting yellow on Ito was pretty absurd. She spent like 3 or 4 seconds miming her service action to see why she missed and gets a yellow.

But we were at least treated to her funny reaction to the yellow after. Lol

You guys think that 5th game ending point was side or edge? I couldn't tell even with the slow mo angles. They asked the ref who gave her opinion and I think that's fair.
definitely edge, it’s clear in the slow mo but the umpire was quite incompetent…

I know. The idea that Franxiska is a lesser player is the kind of thing stats show. But they also had Moregard ranked 26th in the Olympics (the stats) and look how that turned out. The past isn't always a perfect predictor of the future, Franziska has beaten players that Moregardh has never beaten, but Zeio can't resist using quotes out of context to buttress his coruscating wisdom.

Oh no.... Mima lost 2-4 to CXT. It was a close call. 9-11 only in G6, she was about to come back from an early 0-3. 9-11 also in G5.

good tactics for Mima, she played high risk shots but also some variations with spinny attacks. but in the end she wasn't consistent enough (as usual), tough to get those extra 2 points.

She doesn't have that extra CNT consistency she would have as a teammate.
Good point actually. She is doing a great job debunking her previous teammate killer moniker and also overthrowing her poor record against Japanese women. Still waiting for an Ito- ZYL rematch.

Good fight from Ito. Set up her shot winners in the 5th and 6th game well but just missed way too many of them. Can't be doing that in games that close. Wish she mixed it up with some of the slower spinny stuff like she was doing earlier in the match.

Still, she's overall looked a lot better in 2025. Oftentimes in the past year or so she's just looked disinterested and gives up after a few bad runs of points. This version is a lot more enjoyable to watch.

And yet you fault Harimoto (and Hirano) when the same applies to Felix and Moregard (and Hayata) as I argued in the linked post. What international results has Matsushima achieved?

Like Lee Kuan Yew pointed out, "your standards do not apply universally, you yourself, do not apply universally but selectively where it's cost-free."

I fault Harimoto because you quoted him. And he claimed it was a thing of the past for him. I generally don't fault players like you love do. I would hardly claim Franziska is an inferior player to Truls. You are the one using "stats' to make self serving claims.

Oh my goodness Lee Sang Su what a win for the man!

LGY is well and truly finished.
Even in LGYs prime, Lee Sangsu was never going to be an easy match nor a guaranteed win. LSS is one of the few from the recent generations who has always been a threat to the top Chinese when he's having his day

she needs to take pointers from zhu yuling and win points subtly. always going for the kill and missing after 9-9.

She can't. Her height and reach mean she's dead meat as the point drags on. She has to remain committed to the KOR style as I pointed out in 1/2019 and so will fluctuate the more she plays. CNT has completely dissected her. Odo is on the same trajectory. Hirano is the minimum height needed to win like that. It's Hayata that has got to do it, now that her hand is finished for good (1, 2).

Ito 152cm
Odo 152cm
Yokoi 155cm

Fukuhara 155cm
Ishikawa 157cm
Hirano Sayaka 158cm

Hirano 158cm

Hashimoto 162cm
Sato 163cm (164cm for T.League 2023/2024)

Nagasaki 164cm
Kihara 164cm
Harimoto 166cm
Hayata 167cm (she said it's actually 166.5cm)
